Fans confuse magazine editor for Jared Leto at the Met Gala
A Met Gala guest has been mistaken for Jared Leto by photographers in a wild Sci-Fi inspired spiky ensemble that has to be seen to be believed.
Fans gushed over Jared Leto’s insane Met Gala look this year … only it turns out it wasn’t him at all.
In an awkward case of mistaken identity, editor in chief of Boy magazine Fredrik Robertsson took to the event in a “wearable work of art”, looking so bizarre many were certain it was actually House of Gucci actor Leto, who is known for transforming himself on many a red carpet.
Even the event’s official photographers got it wrong, sending photos to the world’s media incorrecrtly labelled as Leto.

Leto, 50, is never one to shy away from a show stopping look — once carrying a model of his own head around the Met Gala — but he’s not the man in the spiky suit this year.
He’s the man walking the red carpet with an identical twin, just to make matters even more confusing.
That’s Leto at right, walking in a matching outfit with Italian fashion designer Alessandro Michele, at left:
Leto 2.0, aka Fredrik Robertsson, wore a sci-fi inspired monochrome flared structural outfit, all topped off with black platforms:
The fashion-lover shared a photo of himself getting ready on Instagram before he arrived at the event, with a number of social media users commenting on how disappointed you’d be going to this much effort only to have everyone think you’re somebody else entirely.
It's Fredrik Robertsson. NOT Jared Leto! #MetGalapic.twitter.com/epM3vymPla

Imagine putting this much effort into your look only to get misidentified as Jared Leto. The indignity. https://t.co/d1EyLRNAgQ

While he certainly looks incredible in the Iris Van Herpen design — we’re still not quite sure how the outfit fits into the theme.
Guests this year have been told to dress in the theme of “Gilded glamour, white-tie” and asked to “embody the grandeur – and perhaps the dichotomy – of gilded age New York”.
The instruction refers to an era of prosperity in the US captured in the HBO series The Gilded Age, spanning 1870 to 1900.
Social media users struggled to see the correlation.
Is this JARED LETO? Who wore this in the 1870s? pic.twitter.com/yo4tEhWzOr

Though “Gilded Glamour” may seem like quite a specific theme, interpretations have been varied, with Aussie actor Kodi Smit-McPhee rocking up in jeans and red gloves.
Still, it’s got nothing on the “Camp” theme of 2019, when Katy Perry dressed as a chandelier that transformed into a hamburger for some reason.
