Elle Macpherson falls off a stage in Vienna

The Aussie model was walking down some stairs at a press conference when she lost her footing and took a big tumble.

Elle Macpherson was left red-faced after stacking it in front of a packed press conference in Vienna.

The Aussie star was speaking to the media ahead of her appearance at the annual Vienna Opera Ball.

Macpherson will attend the exclusive soiree with millionaire businessman Richard Lugner who pays a female celebrity to accompany him each year.

The model was making her way down the stage steps when she lost her footing and tumbled to the ground.

Security guards rushed to her aid and lifted her up as a reporter shoved a microphone in her face and asked if she was OK.

“Yes, you know what it is?” Macpherson said. “There are so many camera flashes I can’t see. That’s why, guys, it’s nice to let us walk a bit,” she said, scolding the photographers.

Other celebrities who have been Mr Lugner’s date to the ball include Goldie Hawn, Paris Hilton and Geri Halliwell.

A few years ago he paid $US500,000 to have Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian be his double date, but it turned out to be a disastrous date.

“Kim is annoying me,” Mr Lugner told media on the night. “Because she’s not sticking to the program.

“She’s filming and so she doesn’t want to have me around. The guest should be with me and not anywhere else that is not agreed upon.”

Kardashian stormed out of the party after a man in blackface came up to her and pretended to be Kanye West.

“I don’t get why him or anyone else would find this funny,” Kardashian said on her reality show. “This is supposed to be a really nice upscale event. How did this guy get in? Is this just like a sick joke?”

Back to Macpherson for just a moment; it’s the second stack the model’s had in just a few months after she fell into a gutter outside a Sydney florist in November last year.

As she left the flower shop with a bouquet, Macpherson politely greeted waiting paparazzi while decked out in flared leather pants and high-heeled boots.

She was led to a waiting car by her driver but suddenly fell to the ground in between the car and the gutter.
