Cara Delevingne turned heads with a bizarre, underwear-flashing red carpet ensemble — and revealed why she and her girlfriend went public.

Model and actress Cara Delevingne caused a stir on a New York red carpet this week in a bizarre backless outfit.

The all-white ensemble looked like a jacket from the front:

… but the jacket was completely backless, with only a sheer outer layer — and the world’s largest pair of undies — preserving Cara’s modesty:

Speaking to E! News at the event, the TrevorLIVE Gala to support LGBTQ youth — Delevingne opened up about her recent decision to go public with her latest relationship.

The star has been dating Pretty Little Liars actress Ashley Benson for almost a year but only confirmed the relationship this week when she posted an Instagram video of them kissing alongside the caption “PRIDE”.

“I don’t know, because it is Pride, it’s been 50 years since Stonewall happened, and I don’t know,” she told E! of the post. “It’s been just about our one-year anniversary, so why not?”

Benson returned the gesture on her social media, issuing a public message to her girlfriend: “Love you. proud of you.”
