Jennifer Lawrence slams photo controversy: ‘I’m offended’

CONTROVERSY erupted over a photo of Jennifer Lawrence with her Hollywood co-stars. Now we know what she really thinks.

JENNIFER Lawrence has shut down chatter about ‘Hollywood’s double standards’ and told everyone to “get a grip” after controversy erupted over her Red Sparrow photocall.

Pictures from the media event show Lawrence flanked by co-stars Joel Edgerton, Jeremy Irons, Matthias Schoenaerts and director Francis Lawrence, on a balcony of London’s Corinthia Hotel.

Given that it’s the middle of winter in the UK at the moment — and bloody cold — many were quick to express their shock that the actor was wearing a plunging Versace dress, while the men in the picture were rugged up in coats and long pants.

It appeared to be the perfect example of the contrast between men and women in show business.

But now Lawrence is setting the record straight.

‘We need to chill out about this photo’

“Wow. I don’t really know where to get started on this ‘Jennifer Lawrence wearing a revealing dress in the cold’ controversy,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “This is not only utterly ridiculous, I am extremely offended.

“That Versace dress was fabulous, you think I’m going to cover that gorgeous dress up with a coat and a scarf? I was outside for 5 minutes. I would have stood in the snow for that dress because I love fashion and that was my choice.

“This is sexist, this is ridiculous, this is not feminism. Over- reacting about everything someone says or does, creating controversy over silly innocuous things such as what I choose to wear or not wear, is not moving us forward. It’s creating silly distractions from real issues. Get a grip people. Everything you see me wear is my choice.”

Lawrence ended the post by adding: “And if I want to be cold, that’s my choice too.”

While no one was suggesting Lawrence had been forced to wear the dress, the contrast between the exposed star and her rugged up male colleagues became a topic of discussion on social media, who noted the “quietly depressing” double standard at play.

The only rational reason for this picture is that her clothes spontaneously combusted and Liz Hurley happened to be passing on her way to a charity shop.
