Fans are freaking out over Penn Badgley’s new look

GOSSIP Girl star-turned-musician Penn Badgley has stunned fans with a rather edgy new look. He’s far from Lonely Boy these days.

SPOTTED: Penn Badgley looking nothing like Lonely Boy.

The Gossip Girl star, who played Dan Humphrey on the hit US series for six seasons, had fans spinning out when he debuted a totally new look during a performance at Miami’s Art Basel this week.

The 30-year-old looked nearly unrecognisable when he stepped out with his band Mothxr (pronounced ‘mother’) for a performance at the Life Of The Party event, rocking platinum blonde hair spiked into a tiny mohawk.

He was also sporting some serious facial hair, something Dan Humphrey would never have attempted to pull off.

Some are convinced he hasn’t quite nailed the rocker look though. An off-brand Zayn Malik?

The blonde ‘do is just the latest look the actor-turned musician has donned since his Gossip Girl days. He’s been wearing his dark brown curls around his shoulders this year, along with plenty of muscle tees and bling.

Speaking about his transformation back in March, Badgley told Huffington Post: “The whole Gossip Girl thing, that is an experience unto itself that any person needs to decompress from, and I’ve been doing that. That’s why I look like this.”

While Badgley says he is grateful for his acting career, his true love has always been music. “This was always an intention of mine,” he said. “It’s not forced. It’s not something that I’ve been incredibly conscious or precious or deliberate about. It was obviously going to happen.”

Badgley isn’t the first Gossip Girl star to venture into music. His on-screen little sister Taylor Momsen (who played Jenny Humphrey) has found success with rock band, The Pretty Reckless.

Also, Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf) released an album of her own called Heartstrings in 2014.

Gossip Girl ran from 2007 to 2012, and ended with the bombshell that Dan Humphrey was the mysterious blogger all along.
