A new trend? Gigi and Bella Hadid wore jelly sandals on the runway in Milan (yes, really)

THEY’RE two of the world’s most influential style stars. But Gigi and Bella Hadid sported some eyebrow-raising shoes on the runway in Milan.

Gigi Hadid sported an unlikely shoe trend at the Alberta Ferretti show in Milan.

A TOP designer has unveiled an unlikely new trend at Milan fashion week ... the jelly sandal.

Yep, once a look reserved for the playground, it seems the see-through plastic buckle-ups are all grown up and worthy of the runway.

Supermodel sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid sported the traditional beach shoe at Alberta Ferretti’s spring/summer ‘18 show, where Australian model Shanina Shaik also walked (though she wore high heels).

The Italian designer teamed studded jelly sandals with black shorts, a black bikini top and oversized blazer on Victoria’s Secret model Bella, and a black, halter neck one-piece on Gigi.

Vogue said Ferretti “paired the one-pieces with studded jelly sandals and nylon windbreakers, inspired by the women she saw on holiday this summer who sported their swimwear out to parties”.

Shaik, however, was in glam mode, wearing a short sequined number with gold heels on the catwalk.

The Melbourne-raised model — who is due to marry her fiance DJ Ruckus this year — kept the metallic trend going wearing a gold Grecian-inspired frock to the Swarovski Crystal Wonderland party.

Prada, Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Versace and Dolce & Gabbana are also showing in Milan as part of fashion week.

Taylor Hill and Hailey Baldwin continued the metallic trend.
