JUST three weeks before she was found “unconscious” from a reported drug overdose, Demi Lovato reportedly made an abrupt decision that shocked those close to her.

DEMI Lovato fired her long-term sober companion three weeks ago and her family is said to be desperate for the singer to go back to rehab.

The pop star is recovering in hospital following a suspected drug overdose after slipping up in her battle with substance abuse.

Lovato, 25, has spent years battling drug demons and has been sober since a previous spell in rehab back in 2010.

However, she is believed to have fallen off the wagon this summer, and according to The Sun, she sacked sober coach Mike Bayer, who had been helping with her sobriety battle for six years and even appeared in her documentary Simply Complicated.

Lovato made the decision three weeks ago and it is believed to have raised concerns among friends and family members.

Her relatives are now believed to be desperate to get her back into rehab.

The trouble with Bayer started earlier this year as Lovato, who reportedly hosted an all-night party before her hospitalisation, started growing irritated with him picking up on her “bad behaviour”.

A source told the publication: “She and Mike started having arguments back in March.

“He felt like she was always making excuses for herself, her bad behaviour and not telling him the truth about what she was up to.

“He called her out on her sh*t, which she did not appreciate.

“She fired him a few weeks ago — they had a big argument and then they unfollowed each other on social media.

“It has been very ugly and messy as this guy was like ‘her rock’ that she leaned on after she and Wilmer (ex-boyfriend actor Wilmer Valderrama) broke up.

“She has been alienating people all around her, but she is very much well liked in Hollywood — people just want her to get well and get help.”

Lovato hasn’t been pictured with Bayer since March, and earlier this month fans were convinced she threw shade at him online.

After he shared a vlog about his “pet peeves” with celebrities, including being “late and rude” she simply tweeted: “Good luck on your blog.”

Lovato previously hinted she was battling drug problems again when she released her song Sober last month.

Back in 2010, Lovato suffered a “nervous breakdown” and pulled out of her tour with the Jonas Brothers to check into rehab.

She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and treated for eating disorders, self-harm and substance abuse during her stay.

After leaving the clinic, she spent time in a sober-living facility, where she was able to get the support she needed to keep her clean.

She has since spoken openly about her long battle with drugs, and confessed she couldn’t go more than 30 minutes without a hit of cocaine at the height of her problems.

Lovato even claimed she would smuggle cocaine on planes and snort the drug in the bathroom.

She told Access Hollywood: “With my drug use I could hide it to where I would sneak drugs. I couldn’t go 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine and I would bring it on airplanes.

“I would smuggle it basically and just wait until everyone in first class would go to sleep and I would do it right there.

“I’d sneak to the bathroom and I’d do it.

“That’s how difficult it got and that was even with somebody (with me).

“I had a sober companion, somebody who was watching me 24/7 and living with me (and) I was able to hide it from them as well.”
