The inside word on the world of pop culture, style and celebrity
WANT to know the inside word on the world of pop culture, style and celebrity? Melissa unleashes anything and everything in her new weekly column, VIP.
GRAZIA officially closes its doors, Jodhi Meares' new "baby" and Kristy Clark's latest crusade... Melissa gives you the inside word.
With official news of the closure of Grazia - February 25 will be the fashion weekly's last issue - also comes the speculation as to who will take the role of Elle magazine, the title that is being touted as the one Bauer Media (formerly ACP) is planning to expend its energy and marketing spend.
While Shop Til You Drop editor, Justine Cullen is being majorly touted as potential ‘ed’ material, another name being thrown in the loop is Lucinda Mendel, who once edited Elle the first time around. For the last few years, the well regarded Lucinda has been working with beauty magnet Napoleon Perdis, the man who has made his make-up mark both here and in the US. Time will tell...
Jodhi's new line
Former cossie model turned entrepreneur Jodhi Meares - who founded the successful Tigerlily beachwear brand which she went on to sell - tells me she has turned her attention to a new online yoga collection.
Active, slim and fit fantastic, Jodhi is the perfect ambassador for her own brand: her rocking body a testament to the joy of a few Locust and Warrior poses.
Ensconced with former Noiseworks lead man, Jon Stevens, Jodhi divides her time between Sydney and Hawaii and as for Jodhi’s new yoga threads, we can expect to see the results in time for a spring delivery, later this year.
Kristy hits Oz
The always exquisite and refreshingly private Kristy Clark (formerly Hinze) has been quietly back in Australia, quietly catching up with her family and great friends. The model mum calls the US home but can't ever stay away too long from her Aussie posse.
The philanthropic Kristy has timed this low-key trip with a project very close to her heart, as she has joined the board of the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC), an organisation that establishes sanctuaries for the conservation of threatened wildlife and ecosystems.
AWC now owns 23 sanctuaries covering over 3 million ha in north Queensland, the Kimberley, western New South Wales, Northern Territory and the forests of south western Australia.
Kristy married computer technology god and Netscape founder, the debonair Jim Clark, in a sensational Caribbean wedding in 2009.
Kristy gave birth to their delightful daughter, Dylan, nearly 18 months ago. Next week, she will also put on her fashion hat as the brand ambassador for long-standing house, Sportscraft.
Wedding Bells
I am off to the wedding of some friends this weekend. So what? Well, the intendeds names are Stephen and Edward.
The pair is hosting what is a proper, black tie night of nuptial excitement: there's the smart invite to an exquisite location as it's all happening at the home of Aussie Homes Loan founder, John Symond, who happens to be the father of one of the grooms.
There's mega entertainment, serious designer suits and an A team guest list.
But isn't it a shame that Stephen Symond and Ed Smith's commitment to each other still won't be deemed legal in the eyes of fellow Australians? For such a progressive country we are so bloody backwards at times...

THE PARTY: What the A-team did
It's the little blue box that makes heart flutter, so when Tiffany & Co host a party like they just have, it's pretty darn special.
Tiffany & Co’s newest store (there are already six around the country) is in Bondi Junction and has collaborated with Australian artist, Dr Lisa Cooper, to design and create sculptural objects that pay homage to Tiffany's relationship with 'true love'.
The sculptures will be displayed in the store windows from 13th February - 24th February 2013. "We are excited to unveil these magnificent sculptures and all that they reflect of Tiffany and the local community" said Glen Schlehuber, managing director Tiffany & Co. Australia.
"We partnered with Lisa to create a message for Tiffany, combining the local heritage of Sydney with Tiffany’s iconic association with love and to use her craft to highlight our brilliant jewellery within the sculptures."
Guests included Harper's BAZAAR editor Kellie Hush, former Vogue Russia boss Robyn Holt, and Romance was Born designer Luke Sales who raised the style bar in his teddy bear shoes (pictured), Luke told me he wished he had bought them in pink as well. Gotta love him.

STYLE SPY: The weeks' most memorable frocks
Rihanna: Possibly one of the best red carpet dresses of the year, so far, this simply sensational red gown from French house Azzedine Alaia took the Grammy gold star. Pity about her choice of partner.
Kimbra : Brought some antipodean glam to the Grammys having Jamie Lee Major from Western Australia create this light as feather, sexy creation that worked beautifully as she accompanied Gotye to the stage to collect the Grammy’s Record of The Year.
Taylor Swift: No doubt former BF Harry Styles was thinking We are Never, Ever Getting Back Together was being sung directly to him when she came down the red carter in this J. Mendel Grecian extravaganza.
Katy Perry: Meh. A bit dull for a chick who usually likes to shock. But she has grown up since her split from Russell Brad and consequent hook-up with John Mayer. The dress may be Gucci, but a bit bland for Ms Perry.
Kelly Rowland : With a whole lot of strategically placed panels, Ms Rowland adhered to the dress code (only just) in her George Chakras. Her flesh was covered but not by very much.
J-Lo: Sure, it was a simple, one-shouldered dress from Anthony Vaccarello but no one could help wonder why, only 12 months after Ms Jolie flashed her leg, did J-Lo do a similar thing. The stunt got lost in its own imitation.

THE WRAP
THE GOOD: Good to see The Pope recognising human frailty and pulling the papal pin. Must have been all that tweeting that pushed him over the edge. Yup, social media can be a relentless road.
THE BAD: Manners don't seem to be on the dance card for Chris Brown, his arrogance had him as the ‘last man sitting’ at the Grammys when he didn't win a Grammys gong and join in a standing ovation. Thank god Adele put him in his place.
THE UGLY: Yawn. All this boring, tedious and plain excruciating Rudd v. Gillard challenge speak. Give us all a break and settle it once and for all.
