VIP: Roll on the Logies red carpet, plus Crown ladies lunch and fashion week kicks off unofficially
ASIDE from who takes home the gongs at Sunday's Logies, let's face it, the real focus is on the frocks.
ASIDE from who takes home the gongs at Sunday's Logies, let's face it, the real focus is on the frocks.
The red carpet hits and misses are what the night is all about and if guests follow the lead from the Oscars and Golden Globes, we can expect sublime understatement this year.
I'm guessing there will still be a few meringue, full-skirted gals gowns although slim-line, sleeker gowns should be the nights main attraction.
Blacks, skin-tone hues, delicate embellishment and elegant lace will rule and I expect Asher Keddie, Claudia Karvan, Sonia Kruger, Carrie Bickmore, Mel Doyle and Kylie Gillies to heed that style call.
I hear Channel Ten weathergirl Magdalena Rose is reportedly wearing Steven Khalil (the designer is dressing 9 Logie-ites) while The Morning Show co-host Kylie Gillies has chosen Vera Wang and Deborah Mailman is in Jennifer Regan.
Double nominee, the ABC's Annabel Crabb, innate and eclectic style may possibly be enhanced wearing a vintage piece.
Roll on the red carpet!

Crown's VIP ladies lunch
Today Erica and Gretel Packer hosted an inaugural V-VIP ‘Ladies Lunch’ at one of the best restaurants in Sydney, Guillaume at the Opera House.
The Packer pair hooked up with Crown – the Australian business of wife and brother James - and invited a swag of select women (and just a couple of blokes) to celebrate autumn.
Women’s Weekly editor Helen McCabe and Crown’s Ann Peacock drew up the cast list which includes names like Skye Leckie, Sam Armytage, Collette Dinnigan, KAK, oh, and Richard Wilkins and Alex Perry.
Fashion week kicks off early with pre-shows
Carla Zampatti and relative new fashion-comer Rebecca Valance got in before next week’s Australian fashion week rush, showing their spring/summer collections in Sydney this week.
Carla chose her CBD headquarters as her backdrop, showing ‘Black, White and Nowhere In Between’, a monochromed palette of black, white and gold with accents of mesh panels, perforated leather and metallic brocade.
Rebecca, meanwhile. opted for Ananas in The Rocks and had Lara Bingle and Jess MacNamee in the ‘frow’ (front row) as special guests. Look out for Ms Valance with her collection of elegant and sexy pussy bows, pencil skirts and sheer print shirts all looking the goods.
Georgia May Jagger also zipped into town as guest model for British Airways who unveiled new cabins of their 777-300ER, over an in-flight High Tea, created by The Langham Sydney.
While the plane didn’t actually move from the Mascot tarmac, guests sipping Laurent Perrier champagne including Kris Smith, Elka Whalan, James Kerley and Gracie Otto.
Mambo signs Hungarian model to join Hart
Jess and Ashley Hart are one mighty fair pair of sisters. Jess is the recently installed face of Portmans while Ashley has an association with Mambo and will shoot the brand's "goddess" campaign for summer 2013/14 at Venice Beach in California.
However Mambo will have a first ever international face too, in the exquisite Barbara Palvin.
The Hungarian model was recently in Melbourne as part of the L’Oreal fashion festival and is also a ‘walker’ for Victoria’s Secret.
Mambo say Palvin compliments the iconic Australian brands further expansion into the international market, into Brazil & South Korea, with India also on the horizon.
