Victoria Beckham ‘heartbroken’ over feud with daughter-in-law

The escalating conflict between the former Spice Girl and her new daughter-in-law is exacting an emotional toll.

Victoria Beckham is reportedly “heartbroken” over the feud with her daughter-in-law, Nicola Peltz.

The Daily Mail reported the former Spice Girl is “distraught and fearful” over the strains in her relationship with her oldest son and is concerned the unpleasantness will affect their close bond.

According to the Daily Mail, Beckham had relied on Brooklyn, 23, when husband David was playing football around the world.

The so-called feud between Beckham and Peltz has been running since the April nuptials between the privileged scions of prominent families. Peltz is the daughter of Nelson Peltz, a billionaire businessman, and model Claudia Heffner.

Peltz and Brooklyn married in a lavish ceremony in Palm Beach, Florida. The tensions are said to stem from the event.

At the heart of the supposed conflict is, according to sources, a disagreement over Peltz’s wedding dress.

Peltz apparently said she would wear a design by Beckham, who has a successful fashion label, but whispers in Peltz’s camp have claimed that the young bride had never intended to go through with it.

Instead, Peltz wore Valentino. She told Variety that she had wanted to wear a Beckham design, but the logistics didn’t work out.

“I was going to and I really wanted to,” Peltz said last month. “Then a few months down the line, [Beckham] realised her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress.”

As reported by the Daily Mail, an insider close to Peltz said, “She was always just going to let her design something. But she was never going to put that on her. She has too many actually talented designer friends.

“It’s like when you have an in-law, and they say they make the best meatballs, you hate meatballs, but then you let them cook it anyway. That’s exactly what happened. She was never, ever going to wear it.”

More recently, fresh details emerged which suggested the tensions were deepened by a reception speech given by singer Marc Anthony. Anthony is a close friend of David Beckham.

Peltz is said to have been offended by a “gushing” tribute Anthony gave to the mother of the groom during his speech.

“It was totally just an ode to Victoria and how awesome she is,” the source told the Daily Mail, who claimed Peltz wanted to be the centre of attention on her wedding day and was “pissed off” that she wasn’t.

“She stormed off in the middle of her wedding reception with [her sister] Brittany and her mum and was crying her eyes out,” the same source said.

The initial love affair between Beckham and Peltz has seemed to cool down.

In 2021, Beckham liked 25 of Peltz’s Instagram posts in a three-month period, and Peltz liked 20 of hers in the same time frame.

Now, Beckham hasn’t liked a single post by Peltz since May 27 — but she has been active on the platform, posting photos of her latest fashion designs, as well as of her husband and other children.

While Peltz posted on Instagram from her honeymoon with Brooklyn, spent on a yacht with her family in Italy, Beckham liked none of them. The newlyweds were with Peltz’s parents.

The Beckhams were vacationing at the same time on another yacht nearby and it was not clear whether the families saw each other, Page Six reported.

Cosmopolitan reported there is also bad blood over an alleged snub at Paris Fashion Week, when Beckham didn’t tell Peltz or Brooklyn she would be showing her collection.
