Today co-host Karl Stefanovic ‘had lunch’ with James Packer after reporting on terror attack in Nice

NINE has denied claims Karl Stefanovic was “living it up” with James Packer and Mariah Carey just hours after reporting on the Nice terror attack.

CHANNEL Nine has denied that Karl Stefanovic was “living it up” with James Packer and fiancee Mariah Carey on luxury yacht Arctic P just hours after reporting on the Nice terrorist attack.

But the network has admitted that the Today co-host dined with the casino mogul on his boat after covering the massacre, which killed 84 people and injured 202 others.

Packer has been sailing the French Riviera in recent days with Carey on the lavish 88m vessel, which includes an entertainment hub with a swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Earlier in the week it is believed Packer and Carey dined in St Tropez with friends including Hollywood director Brett Ratner.

Now it has been revealed that Packer also caught up with Stefanovic, who he has described as “one of my best friends in the world”.

“After reporting for 36 hours straight, he (Karl) did have lunch with James but was only there for an hour,” a Nine spokeswoman said.

The admission came as Nine and Today are still feeling the heat from Sonia Kruger’s call on the breakfast show’s Mixed Grill segment for Australia to end Islamic immigration.

Stefanovic is now on his way back to Australia.
