Sydney Sweeney sets record straight on relationship rumour
The Hollywood superstar has set the record straight on an ongoing rumour about her financial situation with her fiance.
Sydney Sweeney has set the record straight on persistent rumours about her financial situation with her fiance.
The US actress, 27, has enjoyed a meteoric rise in Hollywood over the past couple of years, after launching her own production company Fifty-Fifty Films in 2020. It was a bold move for the then-upcoming star, coinciding with her breakthrough role in 2019’s Euphoria, and prior to landing Emmy nominations for the teen drama and 2021’s The White Lotus.
She’s been plagued by reports in the years since that her long-term boyfriend and business partner Jonathan Davino, 40, is her financial backer.
“I would love to set the record straight,” Sweeney said to Glamour for its Women of the Year issue, stressing Davino was simply a sounding board for the production company she owns.
“You can be in a healthy relationship with someone and also be very successful without needing the man. We’re teammates. We’re in it together. And we want to see each other succeed.”
“I’m a very successful, independent woman who’s worked really hard,” she continued. “I’ve accomplished and bought everything myself, and I provide for myself and my family.”
Little is known about Davino, though it’s understood he is a businessman from Chicago.
Multiple outlets, including People, have linked Davino to a family that owns the American vaporiser design packaging companies 14th Round and Final Bell.
The private couple, who are rarely pictured together, were first linked in 2018, and were reported to be engaged in 2022.
Sweeney has previously opened up about wanting to keep her romantic life as private as possible.
“Everyone is always so curious about who I’m with and what’s that like, but I think it’s important to have something for me,” she told Glamour UK in December last year.
“I’m very open [otherwise]. I talk about so much and sometimes it gets me in trouble, but I do try to keep something for me.”
Her relationship with Davino became a hot topic last year when Sweeney was romantically linked to her Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell.
The Hollywood duo filmed the movie in Sydney, Australia for several months in early 2023, and fans pointed our their strong chemistry during the promo trail.
Both Sweeney and Powell, 35, have since admitted to leaning into romance rumours in a bid to promote their rom-com, which was a rare box office success for the genre after its December release, making more than $200 million globally.

Meanwhile, Powell spoke glowingly of Sweeney in her Glamour cover story, describing the actress as a “renaissance woman”.
“I’ve never met someone who has an aptitude for so much. But the thing that really makes her a movie star, or a Glamour Woman of the Year, is that she’s able to effortlessly move through this world and be convincing in all these different things but also maintain her humanity,” Powell told the outlet.
“I think people feel that onscreen. Everybody knows she’s talented and magnetic and beautiful, and all those things, but I think her heart’s going to be what takes her the distance.”
