Steve Bing dead: The movie mogul was previously linked to Nicole Kidman, Liz Hurley, Farrah Fawcett
From Liz Hurley to Nicole Kidman, movie mogul Steve Bing, who died by reported suicide today, had a string of famous exes in the late 90s.
The tragic death of movie mogul Steve Bing has rocked Hollywood today.
TMZ reported that Bing, who wrote the comedy film Kangaroo Jack in 2003 and later invested nearly $US100 million in the animated hit Polar Express, reportedly died by suicide at his luxury apartment building in LA’s Century City neighbourhood.
Bing became a Hollywood power player after inheriting $US600 million from his grandfather on his 18th birthday, dropping out of college and using the money to found his own company, Shangri-La Entertainment.
His credits as an executive producer include Get Carter (2000), Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World (2005), Youth in Revolt (2009) and Rock the Kasbah (2015).
But many celeb watchers would better know Bing for his turbulent personal life.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he reportedly dated actresses including Farrah Fawcett, Sharon Stone, Uma Thurman, model and TV personality Brooke Burns as well as Aussie Nicole Kidman.
Most notably, he was the father of Liz Hurley’s son Damian, 18, and the pair enjoyed a high-profile romance which ended in a bitter dispute.
Here’s what we know about Steve Bing’s romantic history:
SHARON STONE
Pictures of Bing and Basic Instinct actress Sharon Stone place them together in 1991 — when Stone’s film career was really taking off.
Little is known about their brief relationship, but Stone reportedly began dating country singer Dwight David Yoakam in 1992, before becoming engaged to assistant director Bob Wagner in 1994.
UMA THURMAN AND NAOMI CAMPBELL
While unconfirmed, rumours swirled that Bing dated actress Uma Thurman and supermodel Naomi Campbell in the years between his split from Sharon Stone and brief relationship with Hollywood icon with Farrah Fawcett.
FARRAH FAWCETT
While there was no official confirmation from either party, 70s sex symbol Fawcett was romantically linked to the tycoon in the late 1990s.
According to US media, Bing considered asking Fawcett — who was 18 years his senior — to marry him in 1997, but nothing came of their relationship.
Fawcett died in 2009 at age 62 after a long struggle with anal cancer.
LISA BONDER
Along with his son Damian Hurley, Bing is survived by a daughter, Kira Bonder, who he had with tennis player Lisa Bonder in the late 1990s following his relationship with Farrah Fawcett.
Both of his children were at the centre of high profile paternity disputes. After Kira’s birth in 1999, private detective Anthony Pellicano famously swiped a piece of dental floss used by Bing to prove his DNA matched hers.
ELIZABETH HURLEY
A relationship with actress and model Elizabeth Hurley from 2000-01 produced a son, actor and model Damian Hurley, born in 2002.
Bing initially denied paternity, claiming that he and Hurley’s relationship was brief and non-exclusive – a DNA test later showed he was the father. It’s understood Bing and his only son did not have a relationship.
Last year it was reported that Damian, 18, could stand to inherit nothing of his father’s vast fortune amid a nasty legal battle with his biological grandfather.
The bulk of Bing’s fortune came from his grandfather, New York real estate baron Leo S. Bing.
Hurley’s grandfather, Dr Peter Bing, last year argued that the teen isn’t eligible to become a Bing heir as he was “born out of wedlock”.
The trust, established in 1980, “would not benefit any person bought out of wedlock unless that person had lived for a substantial period of time as a regular member of the household”, according to court documents, The Mirror reports.
BROOKE BURNS
Bing dated the Baywatch star in 2003, with the two photographed together a few times that year.
NICOLE KIDMAN
Bing and Kidman were linked in 2004 and again the next year, when Kidman was spotted showing Bing around Sydney.
“They spent the Thanksgiving holiday together, dining at Trader Vic’s restaurant in Los Angeles, where they were spotted giggling and snuggling up to each other like two teenagers,” reported the Daily Mail at the time.
She wed husband Keith Urban in 2006.
SHERYL CROW
In 2008, it was reported that Crow had begun dating Bing after being introduced by mutual friend Jennifer Aniston in late 2007.
“A few weeks ago things got a little more intimate between them,” a source told Star in March 2008. “They are really bonding – they have more in common than anyone thought.”
