‘So beautiful’: Selma Blair’s bold new look
As Selma Blair shares her MS battle with her supporters, one fellow star has praised her new look as “glam warrior superhero”.
Actress Selma Blair has been praised for her latest Instagram post, the star showing off her newly-shorn head as she undergoes treatment for multiple sclerosis.
The 47-year-old actress was diagnosed with the degenerative disease almost a year ago and appeared in public this year walking with a cane and a walking bike.
Last month, Blair revealed her treatment left her immune system compromised, and she experienced hair loss.
The Cruel Intentions actress posted the first picture to her Instagram account revealing the extent of her hair loss and her son cutting her remaining hair off.
In her latest Insta snap, the star is shown sitting poolside in a red two-piece bikini, make-up free and her head completely bald.
Fans and fellow celebs praised Blair for her honesty in documenting her MS journey.
“Looking like the glam warrior you are. superhero,” wrote Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo.
“You look amazing,” wrote celebrity stylist Elizabeth Stewart.
“Pure strength,” said actress Sarah Carter.
In a cover story for People magazine earlier this year, Blair opened up about her MS battle, saying she has experienced “constant weakness and fatigue” and spasmodic symptoms that compromise her control over her face and voice.
However, she told the magazine she had some milestones to celebrate, including her supportive followers on social media and the resilient support of her family.
Her son Arthur doesn’t see his mum’s challenges as weakness but instead says, “Mummy’s not sick. Mummy’s brave,” Blair said.
Blair first shared with the public how MS had affected her in a revealing interview with Good Morning America in February. During that interview she was dealing with an “exacerbation” of MS — resulting in spasmodic dysphonia, a condition that alters her voice.
“I am very happy to be able to put out what being in the middle of an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis is like,” the Legally Blonde actress told interviewer Robin Roberts.
“It’s interesting to put it out there, to be here to say, ‘This is what my particular case looks like right now’,” she said.
