Selena Gomez reveals she was planning to adopt a baby by 35
Selena Gomez has revealed she made a plan to adopt a baby, adding she “tortured” herself mentally about being alone.
Selena Gomez was planning her path to motherhood before her blossoming romance with Benny Blanco.
The Only Murders in the Building actress, 31, revealed that she had made plans to adopt a baby at 35 when she was single.
“I was alone for five years and I got really used to it,” she told Time.
“A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it.”
Gomez said she “came up with my plan,” which was for her to adopt at 35 if she “had not met anyone.”
However, when her friendship with the music producer, 36, turned romantic, her plans changed.
“It just happens when you least expect it,” she shared.
Gomez said her new beau, whom she began dating in 2023, has tuned out the “noise” when it comes to “hurtful” things people, including her own fans, say about her.
“I know what people can do to people I love. My own fans, who I adore and feel like have shaped who I am, will say the most hurtful things to me about how I live my life. But he has the strength in him that none of that noise fazes him,” she told the magazine.
“It’s really impressive, and I just cherish every moment with him. I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.”
Blanco, born Benjamin Levine, is also open to starting a family with the Wizards of Waverly Place star.
Earlier this month, the award-winning songwriter said his “next goal” was to have kids with Gomez.
“That’s my next goal, to check the box,” he confessed on The Howard Stern Show.
“I have a ton of godkids; I’ve got a ton of nephews. I love being around kids.”
In December 2023, Gomez confirmed she had been dating Blanco for six months.
The singer’s close friends reportedly believe she and Blanco are in it for the long haul.
“[She] feels very at home and at ease with Benny,” an insider told Entertainment Tonight in January.
“Their friends, family and loved ones on both sides are all supportive and happy to see what they think could be an amazing and long-lasting relationship between the two of them.”
