The 28-year-old actress is said to be planning on marrying her French journalist boyfriend of less than a year, Romain Dauriac.

"They're engaged and very happy," a source told People magazine.

A representative for the blonde bombshell declined to comment on the rumours.

The insider claims Dauriac popped the question around one month ago and he is thought to have presented her with a vintage Art Deco ring.

The Hitchcock star was seen wearing the alleged diamond piece of jewellery while promoting her new film in Italy this week.

Her fresh sci-fi flick Under the Skin was screened at the Venice International Film Festival and the rumour mill went into overdrive when she stepped out.

However ScarJo has flashed a number of fancy pieces on her ring finger over the last year.

In July she sparked chatter when she showed up in Los Angeles wearing impressive gold bling with diamond and ruby stones.

A source explained at the time that the eye-catching piece was "simply a piece of jewellery".

Johansson is thinking about settling down again and having kids but for now she's enjoying discovering more about herself, she recently told Britain's Harper's Bazaar.

"Eventually I want to have a family, and that would be my focus, but right now I'm having fun with it," she admitted.

"There have been times in my career where I've struggled to find... I was stuck for a while. It was more difficult, maybe, to find the right thing to do. Now I'm enjoying a really productive, creative period."

Johansson divorced actor Ryan Reynolds in 2011 after three years of marriage and her ex is now married to former Gossip Girl star Blake Lively.
