Sarah Paulson reveals how girlfriend Holland Taylor picked her up

Sarah Paulson, 44, has revealed how her much older girlfriend Holland Taylor, 76, used a very modern way of catching her attention.

American actress Sarah Paulson has revealed the very modern way she hooked up with girlfriend, Holland Taylor.

Appearing on Watch What Happens Live in the US, Paulson, 44, revealed how she first met the 76-year-old actress.

“It’s a long story. We met a very, very long time ago,” Paulson said. “I was with someone else.”

“We were doing a thing at [actress] Martha Plimpton’s house. It was for an organisation that she was working with and we were both doing a little PSA for it,” Paulson explained. “We sort of breezed by each other.”

The pair started following each other on Twitter and that was it.

“Holland Taylor slid into your DMs?” Paulson’s American Horror Story co-star Billy Eichner asked.

“She actually did!” replied the star.

The couple have been open about their romance and have defended themselves against criticism of their 32-year age gap. (In Paulson’s 2016 Emmy acceptance speech, she declared, “Holland Taylor, I love you!”)

Speaking to Modern Luxury last year she said, “If someone wants to spend any time thinking I’m strange for loving the most spectacular person on the planet, then that’s their problem. I’m doing just fine.”

The actress also told the New York Times in 2016 that when she first met the actress she considered her “probably the most exquisitely beautiful woman I’d ever seen.”

“There’s a poignancy to being with someone older,” Paulson told the Times. “I think there’s a greater appreciation of time and what you have together and what’s important, and it can make the little things seem very small.

“It puts a kind of sharp light mixed with a sort of diffused light on something. I can’t say it any other way than there’s a poignancy to it, and a heightened sense of time and the value of time.”

Paulson has also said she thinks there’s something “brave” about their relationship.

“I do want to live responsibly and truthfully without hiding … Our relationship represents a certain amount of hope and risk. Maybe there’s something brave in it,” she said in an interview with Town And Country magazine.

“Maybe it encourages others to make brave choices. What else can I say? We love each other.”
