World reacts to news royal baby will be named Prince Louis
NEWS of the royal baby name left many royal watchers scratching their heads. Here’s how you pronounce the new prince’s name.
NEWS of the new royal baby name prompted a unanimous question from royal watchers around the world: How do you pronounce it?
Prince Louis will be known as ‘Lou-ey’ as opposed to ‘Le-wis’.
The prince’s full name is Louis Arthur Charles, and he will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge, Kensington Palace said on Monday.
He was born on April 23, which is St George’s Day in the UK.
The world was forced to wait four days for Prince Louis’ name to become public during a busy week of royal activities that included Anzac day and the news Prince William would be Prince Harry’s best man.
It’s twice the amount of time it took for Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s names to become known.
The announcement led to an outpouring of reaction online with some noting it had French connotations, or suggesting the royals were One Direction fans with a Prince Louis and Prince Harry in the family.
The new little one may be Prince Louis but @Louis_Tomlinson will always be King Louis. ð pic.twitter.com/fMDgpPwJTU

Kate gave birth on Monday at 11.01am on April 23, in the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in London with her husband Prince William by her side.
The name appears to be a reference to Lord Louis Mountbatten, an uncle of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and a second cousin to the Queen. His maternal grandfather was also called Prince Louis Alexander of Battenberg.
Prince William’s full name is William Arthur Philip Louis, while Prince George’s full name is George Alexander Louis.
Including Charles also means both of the paternal grandparents names are represented, as Princess Charlotte’s full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
