Why royal watchers are divided over Archie’s christening photos

The adorable photos released from Harry and Meghan’s christening for baby Archie have caused a divide among royal watchers.

Meghan and Harry christen baby Archie: First photos released

Royal fans were delighted when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released two new images of baby Archie to celebrate the two-month-old’s christening.

And the snaps seem to have caused a divide, with fans unable to decide whether Archie looks more like his mum or dad.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released two official photographs to celebrate the special occasion.

The first image was a touching black and white photograph showing little Archie cradled in the arms of mum, Meghan, 37, as doting dad, Harry, 34, puts his arm around the pair.

The second was a family portrait of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex alongside Archie, Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Meghan’s mum, Doria Ragland, as well as Princess Diana’s sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, were also in the official portrait.

But fans are split on who the little royal looks more like — Prince Harry or Meghan Markle.

Hundreds are convinced Archie is “the spitting image” of his dad, while some are adamant he has a likeness to Meghan.

Others were sure he’s a “perfect mixture” of both, with one tweeting: “He might have Meghan’s lips but definitely not her nose.

“Archie is the perfect mixture of both his parents.”

Another said the royal had Meghan’s “eyes and lips” with Harry’s “nose and hair”.

And although fans were divided over who Archie looks the most like, they were in agreement over the tot’s hair colour, with thousands convinced Archie has ginger locks.

“It could be my eyes but the more I look at Archie, he appears to be a ginger!” Tweeted one.

Another wrote: “Archie is so beautiful and cute. I see he got his dad’s ginger hair.”

Another agreed: “Archie is ginger like daddy.”

Some royal fans even claimed Archie looks like his grandad, Thomas Markle, with several taking to social media to voice their views.

One wrote: “Archie looks a lot like Thomas Markle.”

Sharing the two adorable snaps, the palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to share the happiness of this day and would like to thank everyone around the world for their ongoing support. They feel so fortunate to have enjoyed this special moment with family and Archie’s godparents.”

The photographs were taken by Chris Allerton in the Green Drawing Room and the Rose Garden at Windsor Castle.

Chris Allerton said: “I am honoured to take the official photographs at the christening of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and to, once again, be part of such a special and joyous occasion for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

Members of the St George’s Chapel Choir performed at the ceremony as the seventh-in-line to the throne was baptised in a spectacular $19,000 Lily Font with water from the River Jordan and christened in the same royal gown Kate Middleton’s children wore.

Sadly, the Queen and Prince Philip were absent from the ceremony, having already made plans to spend the week together at Sandringham.
