Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have a tough decision to make ahead of son Archie’s christening this Saturday — who will be his godparents?

While the couple are controversially not going to be making the godparents’ identities public, speculation is still rife about who the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will pick.

Latest reports suggest the couple will shun their A-list pals, with UK newspaper the Daily Mail reporting Meghan’s friends Benita Litt and Lindsay Roth are likely picks.

Benita is Meghan’s childhood friend and her two daughters were bridesmaids at her wedding to Harry.

The Suits actress has known Lindsay since the two met while attending Northwestern University in their late teens.

Contenders from Harry’s side include the prince’s childhood mentor Mark Dyer and longtime friend Jake Warren.

Here are some other possible picks:

THE CLOONEYS

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be very good friends with George and Amal Clooney and a few months ago, it was reported that the couples are “much closer than the headlines let on”.

However George has previously laughed off speculation he could be a godparent and said in February: “No, I’m now a father of twins, I’ve got enough s***. Literally, literally s***.”

SERENA WILLIAMS

Serena and Meghan have been friend since meeting at a celebrity football match in 2014 and have been close ever since.

The tennis player attended Meghan and Harry’s wedding last year and was rumoured to be one of the first people to visit Frogmore Cottage when Archie was born.

THE MULRONEYS

Stylist Jessica Mulroney is Meghan’s BFF and her children were part of Meghan’s bridal party at her wedding.

Twins Brian and John were pageboys and daughter Isabel (who also goes by the nickname of Ivy) was an adorable bridesmaid.

Meghan is very close to Jessica and husband Ben, however, recent reports have suggested neither of the Canadians made the cut.

MISHA NONOO

With Misha rumoured to be the mutual friend who introduced Harry and Meghan, it would be a nice touch if she was chosen as a godmother.

The fashion designer is close to both Harry and Meghan and the Duchess often supports her pal by wearing some of her gorgeous designs, like the sellout “husband shirt”.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a statement via Buckingham Palace on Wednesday that revealed new details about the special occasion.

“Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will be christened in a small private ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday 6th July,” the statement read.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex look forward to sharing some images taken on the day by photographer Chris Allerton.

“The godparents, in keeping with their wishes, will remain private,” the statement concluded.
