Truth behind William’s abrupt decision
The real reason behind Prince William’s high profile absence from his godfather’s memorial service earlier this year has finally been revealed.
The “very odd” decision for Prince William to skip out on a high profile royal memorial earlier this year has finally been explained as the New York Post confirmed Kate’s stunning diagnosis was behind the absence.
Royal insiders told The Post the Prince of Wales opted not to attend the church service for the late King Constantine of Greece after learning of his wife’s cancer diagnosis.
The absence was originally attributed to a “personal matter” and had been considered a trigger behind the global furore over Kate’s whereabouts.
Royal observers speculated his absence was indicative of a very serious matter, as the Prince lives close to where he was set to give a reading at the church service.
King Charles had a prior engagement on the day, which meant William’s absenteeism was in the spotlight- especially considering the King’s recent diagnosis and the announcement the Princess of Wales was recovering from “planned abdominal surgery”.
After weeks of intensifying speculation from media and the public, Middleton’s shock diagnosis was announced via a video at 6pm, UK time on Friday.
In the video the Princess of Wales explained that cancer was discovered after her abdominal surgery in January.
“The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” she said in the video.
She said she was in the early stages of preventive chemotherapy treatment but did not reveal what type of cancer she was battling.
She said she would return to public duties when she had made a full recovery.
“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK,” she said in the video.
The revelation comes off the back of news in February that King Charles is also undergoing treatment for an unspecified cancer.
Conspiracy theories about the Princess hit a fever pitch on March 11 when major news agencies issued a “kill notice” on a photograph of the family that they found had been digitally altered.
