Royal wedding 2018: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first appearance as newlyweds confirmed
SOON-to-be newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will need to delay their honeymoon after they tie the knot.
DAYS out from the royal wedding, new details about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s post-wedding schedule have been released.
The soon-to-be newlyweds will make their first public appearance three days after their nuptials, attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
It will honour Prince Charles’ patronages and military affiliations, with Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwell, also attending.
The guest list includes more than 6000 members of the police, fire, ambulance, mountain rescue services, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and Youth United, according to Nine.
Harry, 33, and Meghan 36, will delay their honeymoon by about a week, according to reports, to continue their royal duties and spend time with some of the bride’s American family, who are jetting in for the wedding.
This includes Ms Markle’s mother, Doria Radlan, but not her father, Thomas Markle, who sensationally pulled out of the wedding entirely.
Former Suits star Meghan and Harry are then expected to holiday in Nambia, Africa, a special place for the couple as that’s where Prince Harry popped the question.
Harry’s brother, the Duke of Cambridge and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, also waited about a week after their wedding to take their honeymoon.
Mr Markle cancelled all of his father-of-the-bride duties after it was revealed he had staged paparazzi photos and claimed to have had a heart attack six days ago.
British media reports say Meghan is “distraught” and is pleading with her 71-year-old father to attend the wedding as planned, with a friend of the bride-to-be adding that Prince Harry blamed himself over the scandal.
“This is not what she wants. She obviously wants her dad there,” a friend of Meghan’s said.
Kensington Palace issued a statement today, saying: “This is a deeply personal moment for Ms Markle in the days before her wedding. She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr Markle in this difficult situation.”
Ms Markle’s mother is now expected to walk her down the aisle.
So why did Mr Markle pull out at such short notice? He reportedly had a change of heart after the paparazzi scandal broke, telling TMZ that the “staged” pictures looked “stupid and hammy” but said that he “meant no harm”.
He insisted he was trying to amend his image after being ambushed by paparazzi in unflattering circumstances.
