Princesses play it safe with very conservative hats
AFTER being mocked on social media at William and Kate’s 2011 wedding, the Princesses have played it safe at Harry and Meghan’s nuptials.
THEY were mercilessly mocked on social media for their scene-stealing hats at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 2011 wedding.
But Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie left royal watchers disappointed with their “boring” headwear choices at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials.
Eugenie, 28, wore a light blue tweed Roksanda Viola dress with a conservative pill box hat by Stephen Jones.
Older sister Beatrice, 29, wore a teal dress by designer Gainsbourg and headband by Fiona Graham.
Their looks on Saturday were a far cry from the eye-catching fascinators worn by the sisters at Kate and William’s nuptials in 2011.
Beatrice and Eugenie raised eyebrows with their choice of headwear, made by renowned hat designer Philip Treacy.
Their hats were mocked by social media users, with Beatrice’s choice likened to everything from a pretzel to a toilet seat.
But it seems that Beatrice and Eugenie can’t win when it comes to public opinion, with Twitter disappointed the sisters hadn’t worn equally extra headwear to Harry’s wedding.
Oh no, Beatrice & Eugenie have gone the other way and went too conservative with their hats! Disappointed at how boring they look. Even the commentators on @PBS are disappointed haha. #RoyalWedding
