Harry and Meghan’s secret tribute to Diana in wedding photos
IN THEIR official wedding portraits Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have paid tribute to the late Princess Diana in the most touching way.
THEY paid tribute to Princess Diana by incorporating her favourite flower and sister Lady Jane Fellowes into their nuptials.
But Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made another subtle nod to the Princess of Wales in their official wedding portraits.
The couple chose to have their photos taken on the same gold and green upholstered furniture that was used for another very happy royal occasion.
In two of their wedding portraits, Harry and Meghan pose on a couch where a beaming Diana once sat, cradling a newborn Harry for official photos from his christening in 1984.
Given the couple’s other deliberate moves to incorporate Diana into their nuptials, it’s unlikely the choice of furniture was just a coincidence.
Changing into a haltnerneck Stella McCartney gown for their evening reception, Meghan also wore an aquamarine ring that once belonged to Princess Diana.
All three of the princess’ siblings were invited to Harry and Meghan’s wedding, with Jane standing in for Diana among other members of family to wave the couple off as they left for their carriage procession around Windsor.
In a TV interview announcing the couple’s engagement last year Prince Harry said Meghan and Diana would have been “thick as thieves” if his mother was still alive.
Diana died in a Paris car crash in 1997 when Harry was just 12 years old.
“I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, you know so excited for me, but then, as I said, would have probably been best friends — best friends with Meghan.,” he said.
