Georgie hits back at critics of ‘curtains’ dress worn during wedding coverage
MEGHAN Markle’s wedding dress may have divided viewers, but it wasn’t the only outfit making waves on social media.
GEORGIE Gardner has hit back at criticism of the “curtains” dress she wore during Channel 9’s coverage of the royal wedding.
The Today host donned a floral frock by Australian designer Scanlan Theodore alongside Karl Stefanovic as the pair reported on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials at Windsor Castle.
While the focus was supposed to be on the new Duke and Duchess’s big day, Gardner’s eye-catching frock proved distracting for some people.
Unfortunately for Gardner, the dress was not a hit with Channel 9 viewers on social media, who compared it to Kim Kardashian’s infamous Met Gala “curtains dress”.
Georgie Gardner WTF are you wearing? Was the brief camouflage to blend into the background. #RoyalWeddingDay

But Gardner defended her choice of dress, writing on Instagram that she had never in her career “worn a dress that has attracted more conjecture”.
“For those I have offended, I’m sorry it’s not to your liking, but at the end of the day it’s not my day, the day belongs to the magnificent Meghan,” she added.
Like Georgie, Meghan’s choice of dress for the royal wedding was also panned, with viewers on social media criticising the Givenchy frock for being too “plain” and “boring”.
Unlike Gardner, Stefanovic’s choice of blue suit and tie appeared to go unnoticed by Channel 9’s audience.
