Bridal party steals show at Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s royal wedding

AS radiant as Meghan Markle was walking down the aisle at her wedding to Prince Harry, it was hard to ignore the enthusiasm of the gap-toothed lads carrying her train.
Twins Brian and John Mulroney, 7, arrived at St George’s Chapel in Windsor in the Rolls Royce with Markle, helping the bride out of the car with her epic veil and train.
The boys are the sons of the bride’s best friend, Jessica Mulroney and their grandfather is the former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.
Viewers were immediately taken with the twins’ palpable excitement as they drove past the crowds lining the street.
But it was the moment they helped carry the 5 metre train up the aisle that really set social media alight — especially the gap-toothed grin from John Mulroney:
The overexcited child quickly became the fodder of Twitter memes.

As the footage shows, young John was reacting to the fanfare.

The twins weren’t the only children representing in the cuteness stakes. Princess Charlotte also brought her A-game to proceedings.
The three-year-old princess was spotted with her mother on the steps outside the chapel waving to photographers. She was one of ten children who arrived in separate cars with three of their mothers, including the Duchess of Cambridge and Jessica Mulroney (who accompanied the twins’ sister Ivy, 4, who was also a bridesmaid).

The young bridal party walked with Meghan into St George’s chapel as she took the first steps down the altar alone, before being met by Prince Charles who walked with her to meet Prince Harry.

The bridal party of ten was made up of six girls and four boys, including Princess Charlotte, 3, and Florence van Cutsem, 3, the goddaughter of Prince Harry, daughter of Alice van Cutsem and Major Nicholas van Cutsem.
Meghan’s goddaughters Remi Litt, 6, Ryland Litt, 7, were also there as the daughters of Meghan’s friends Benita and Darren Litt. Prince Harry’s goddaughter, Zalie Warren, 2, was the youngest among them. She is the child of Zoe and Jake Warren.
Prince George was a pageboy, along with Prince Harry’s godson Jasper Dyer, 6, who is the son of Amanda Dyer and Mark Dyer.
The bridesmaids outfits were designed by Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller who also made Meghan’s dress.
They were made from ivory silk with short puff sleeves and hand finished with a double silk ribbon detail tied at the back in a bow. The girls wore white leather Aquazurra shoes monogrammed with their initials and the wedding date as a keepsake gift from Meghan.
The pageboys wore a miniature version of the Blues and Royals frockcoat worn by Prince William and Prince Harry. Each had their initials embroidered in gold on their shoulder straps.
Royal tradition is to have children make up the bridal party rather than a maid of honour, however Kate Middleton made her own rules in 2011 with the inclusion of her sister Pippa as a bridesmaid.
Meghan had previously decided against having a maid of honour, saying she did not want to discriminate among friends.
“[Meghan] has a very close knit group of friends and she does not want to choose one over another,” Kensington Palace spokesman Jason Knauf said earlier this month. “She is very pleased to have their support on the day.”
“Her close friends will be supporting her through …. but none of them have formal roles.”
It’s the second time in a bridal party for Princess Charlotte and Prince George, who previously appeared for their aunt, Pippa Middleton at her wedding in 2017.
