Aussie fashion to descend on Windsor at royal wedding

AUSTRALIAN designers are set to be front and centre as guests arrive from all corners of the globe to celebrate Princess Eugenie’s wedding.

A DISTINCTLY Australian fashion flair will descend upon Windsor Castle as Princess Eugenie’s Aussie cousins and her aunt fly our fashion flag when she marries Jack Brooksbank.

Jane Ferguson is Sarah Ferguson’s big sister and her daughter, daughter-in-law and stepdaughter will all be dressed in Australian designers. Although they have opted for British milliners when it comes to their hat attire.

Jane has opted for two couture outfits from Sydney designer Jonathan Ward — couturier of note and the man responsible for also taking R.M. Williamsinto the fashion realm a decade ago.

Guests need two outfit changes — one for the actual service and the other for the dinner and dance to be held a few hours after the traditional wedding ceremony.

Jane came to Australia when she was 19 and married Alex Makim. The pair set up home on a cattle station, Wilga Warrina, and had two children before they split in 1988.

Jane’s daughter and Eugenie’s cousin, the former model and now health coach, Ayesha Makim-Specker is now based in South Africa and married in 2015.

Ayesha will wear Australian cult and globally renowned label Zimmerman for both the wedding and dinner. She will team her dresses with handbags from South African leather fave Cape Cobra and a hat from the UK’s Rachel Black.

Eugenie’s other Aussie cousin, Heidi Luedecke will wear Scanlan and Theodore for the wedding, a hat from UK milliner Jess Collett and Bec and Bridge for the wedding dinner.

Nikki Marzbani, Jane’s stepdaughter, has opted for UK brand Self Portrait for the wedding and will wear Australia’s Carla Zampatti afterwards.

The Fergusons choice of milliner — the UK’s Jess Colette — is also the same had designer that Sarah Ferguson will be wearing to the wedding.

Jewellery, too, is coming from down under with leading Melbourne jeweller, Adrian Lewis completing the wedding looks for the Ferguson/Makim family with his signature diamond and gem masterpieces.

Princess Eugenie’s dress will reportedly show her scars from an operation she had as a child when she marries fiance Jack Brooksbank.

Seamus Makim is Jane’s son and his wife Silvia Makim has broken the Aussie onslaught and caught British fashion fever, opting for Forever Unique for both the nuptials and dinner.

While no one knows who has designed Eugenie’s wedding dress, the fashion money has gone from a diverse clutch of labels that include Roland Mouret, Ralph & Russo, Erdem, Oscar de la Renta, and Alexander McQueen. The top pick is Ralph & Russo who didn’t end up getting the wedding dress gig when Meghan Markel married Prince Harry.

Reports from the UK are saying the reportedly low-back dress will show the scars the princess has from an operation she underwent at age 12 to correct curvature of the spine.

The Princess has never shied away from showing her scars and nor should she.

So appreciative of the work done by the Royal National orthopaedic hospital, the Princess is now the hospital’s patron.
