Royal uncle claims Prince Harry threw Kate ‘under the bus’

Kate Middleton’s uncle has fired up at Prince Harry over a damning accusation levelled at the Princess of Wales.

‘Oh do f*** off’: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle mocked by comedian

Princess Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith has hit out at Prince Harry over slurs on his niece and the Royal Family.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Gary insisted he could never do anything to upset “beautiful” Kate, and slammed claims against her of racism as “bull***t”.

The royals and Middleton family were said to be terrified when it was revealed in January tha Gary would take part in a reboot of hit reality series Celebrity Big Brother.

But Gary, brother to Kate’s mum Carole, said of his niece: “She’s beautiful on the outside, but more beautiful on the inside and really is a doting mum . . . so the way the monarchy is moving, it’s family-centric.

“That’s why I got so upset with Harry and Meghan because you don’t put a stick into that spoke and reinvent history.

“I’ve got pretty miffed when they had a pop at my beautiful niece who couldn’t say anything for herself.

“I think everyone felt the same about how much did we love Harry and then throwing your family under the bus just seemed inappropriate, especially what was happening with the Queen. I just thought it was totally unnecessary.”

Gary, 58, said he was incensed at racism claims against Kate.

In the Dutch translation of his book Endgame, writer Omid Scobie alleged that King Charles and the Princess of Wales had asked Meghan and Harry what colour son Archie’s skin might be.

Gary added: “It’s absolute bull***t and I didn’t hide my feelings very well when I was offered the opportunity to say something, I just thought I’d say it as I saw it. I did think I caught the tone of nation.

“Kate is 100 per cent not racist, neither is Carole. My family is not racist and for Kate to be portrayed as that is just so far removed from the truth, it’s ridiculous.”

It’s just one of many revelations which Gary is expected to divulge during his three weeks in the Celebrity Big Brother house, which will start on Tuesday in the UK.

Gary, the four-times married “black sheep” of the Middletons insisted he hates the stress placed on his family, in particular his sister and Kate.

Gary said: “I’ve spoken to Carole just to send my love and we talked about Kate given what’s going on.

“There’s lots going on in the family at the moment. So she’s spinning a lot of plates right now, it’s quite stressful. So the last thing I’m going to do is bring any stress to them.”

But he’s proved himself a loose cannon in the past. The businessman, who had Kate as a bridesmaid at his first wedding in 1991 and a guest at his second in 1997, made £30 million after launching an IT company but it later became mired in scandal.

In 2009 he was caught racking up cocaine for a sex worker in Ibiza.

And he dodged prison when found guilty of hitting fourth wife, Julie-Ann, in a drunken row.

Gary said: “I haven’t really looked after myself very much and I made some pretty bad decisions. But I do try to be the best version of me, but it’s not always the case.

“I think it’s easy to have a potshot. I didn’t choose to be in the spotlight. It gets thrown at you.

“Once you’ve done something it’s there and everyone’s looking. So this (Celebrity Big Brother) is the first bit of upside and fun from all of that.

“Turning 50 I decided I’m going to say no to pretty much nothing these days and just enjoy life to the full.

“I’m not actually a celebrity, it just happens that I am related to one of the biggest. I just thought it’d be a hoot! Also, I think I’m portrayed as this sort of villain and I’m not.

“So it’d be nice to show the other side of me.”

But he admits he likes to stir things up.

Gary said: “I’m bit antagonistic. I like just prodding people. My favourite hobby is when I’m on an aircraft where people are asleep, waking them up and saying, ‘It’s a long flight you should get some shut-eye’.

“I’m just Gary, hashtag annoying. I’m like a puppy that needs to be played with, throw me a stick, play with me. I have a self-destruct mode though, and my mouth runs away with me. So I’ve got opinions about opinions. I guess we’ll find out what a mad bugger I am!”
