Royal staff give Meghan unflattering new nickname

First she was “Duchess Difficult” — now the new secret name royal staff have given Meghan Markle has been revealed.

Meghan Markle: Diana deja vu

Meghan Markle has earned herself a new nickname at Kensington Palace after rubbing staff up the wrong way, according to Tatler.

Insiders claimed to the magazine the pregnant Duchess of Sussex, 37, has been dubbed “Me-Gain” as a result of her ambitious nature. It follows previous reports staff often refer to her as “Duchess Difficult”.

The article said Sarah Ferguson was subject to cruel attacks after marrying into the royal family.

The publication added: “Meghan has seen nothing like that — even though staff at Kensington Palace are now calling her ‘Me-Gain’.”

Kensington Palace has denied reports in the past of Meghan having a strained relationship with her staff.

But there have been a number of reports about how the Duchess of Sussex is said to have a demanding personality and rigorous work ethic.

Meghan is said to have an unrelenting schedule — reportedly bombarding her staff with various demands from as early as 5am.

And she is said to have “ripped up the rule book” when it comes to the royals with her constant messages to staff.

A royal insider said: “Meghan can be difficult. She has very high standards and is used to working in a Hollywood environment.

“However, there’s a different degree of respect in the royal household, and Kate has always been very careful about how she has acted around staff.”

The duchess has had a number of staff resignations since she joined the royal family in May, including their private secretary Samantha Cohen who will leave after the royal baby arrives.

It came as a shock to many when it was reported last year that Ms Cohen, who has worked at the palace for 17 years, was to leave her role.

Another high-profile aide for Meghan, Melissa Toubati, sensationally resigned just six months after the royal wedding.

The French assistant who played a “pivotal role in the success of the royal wedding” ditched her appointment after “putting up with a lot”.

Meghan’s right-hand woman Amy Pickerill, who was appointed as her secretary last year, is also set to leave her position.

A source told the Mail: “It’s very sad for her colleagues, as she is a really popular member of staff.”

However, friends of Ms Pickerill insist the departure is on good terms, telling the Mail: “She has agreed to stay on to help them with the birth of the baby and organise their new household but will then move on.”

The move comes weeks before Meghan and her husband Harry, the Duke of Sussex, are due to move into Frogmore Cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle ahead of the birth of their first child.
