Royal family releases unseen Kate Middleton photo of Queen, Prince Philip and great-grandkids

An adorable, unreleased photo taken by Kate Middleton shows the Queen and Prince Philip surrounded by their great-grandkids.

Queen will not 'walk alone' following Prince Philip's death

The British Royal Family has released a rare, unseen photo of the Queen and Prince Philip surrounded by their great-grandkids.

Taken by the Duchess of Cambridge, the photo shows the late royal alongside his wife Queen Elizabeth II, as well as seven of their great-grandchildren at Balmoral Castle in 2018.

Prince George, 7, can be seen standing on the left of the photo next to the Queen, who is holding a then baby Prince Louis, now 2.

Princess Charlotte, 5, is by the monarch’s side, and directly behind her is Savannah Phillips, 10, the daughter of Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn.

The Duke of Edinburgh, who died last Friday aged 99, is seen with his arm around Isla Phillips, 9, who is holding Zara and Mike Tindall’s child, Lena, now 2. Mia Tindall, 7, is on the right of the photo.

The picture was shared on the official Royal Family Twitter account with the caption: “The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh surrounded by seven of their great-grandchildren at Balmoral Castle in 2018.”

The copyright was attributed to the Duchess of Cambridge.

The Queen and Philip have three other great-grandchildren; Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son Archie Harrison Mountbattern-Windsor, 1, who was not yet born at the time of the photograph, as well as Princess Eugenie’s son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, who was born in February, and Zara Tindall’s son Lucas Tindall, born in March.

It comes after William shared an unreleased photo of his son, Prince George, with his great-grandfather in his carriage, which was also taken by Kate in Norfolk in 2015.

Princess Eugenie shared a sweet tribute to her grandpa on Instagram, saying she remembered learning how to cook, paint and what to read from the late duke.

“I remember laughing at your jokes and asking about your spectacular life and service in the navy,” she wrote.

“I remember incinerating the sausages and you swooping in to save the day. I remember your hands and your laugh and your favourite beer. I will remember you in your children, your grandchildren and great grandchildren.”

The shots included a stunning black and white picture of Philip smiling with the Queen on one royal visit.
