Queen Camilla abruptly pulls out of Royal Variety performance
The Queen has unexpectedly cancelled her planned appearance at a major royal event tonight as she continues to battle illness.

Queen Camilla has abruptly cancelled her planned appearance at tonight’s Royal Variety performance in London.
The 77-year-old has been battling a chest infection, which saw her pull out of all Remembrance events on doctors’ orders earlier this month.
According to The Sun, Camilla is suffering “lingering post-viral symptoms” so doctors have ordered her to rest - although Buckingham Palace insists there is no cause for alarm.
“Following a recent chest infection, the Queen continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms, as a result of which doctors have advised that, after a busy week of engagements, Her Majesty should prioritise sufficient rest,” a spokesperson said.
The Sun reports that she is “naturally disappointed” to miss out.
King Charles will now be attending the Royal Variety performance, which is hosted by Amanda Holden and Alan Carr, alone.
Earlier this month, the Queen was forced to suddenly pull out of a series of upcoming engagements after being diagnosed with a chest infection.
She had been due to attend the annual opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, but was replaced by the Duchess of Gloucester.
She also had to cancel her appearance at the Palace’s reception for Olympic and Paralympic athletes, hosted by her husband, King Charles, which was scheduled for the same day.
She later pulled out of Remembrance events and was seen coughing during recent engagements.
“Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest,” a Palace spokesperson said at the time.
“With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal.
“She apologises to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”
It comes amid a challenging year for the royals’ health, with both the monarch and his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, diagnosed with unspecified forms of cancer.
