The British royal family have announced a new addition to the clan after Princess Beatrice gave birth to a baby girl. But is there a name?
The British royal family have announced a new addition to the clan after Princess Beatrice gave birth to her first child, a baby girl.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the news with a statement from the Princess and husband Edoardo Mozzi, saying the 33-year-old delivered her daughter on September 18 at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.
Mum and daughter are reportedly “doing well” with the rest of the royal family “delighted” with the news.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London,” the statement read.
The baby weighs 6 pounds and 2 ounces.
“The new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news,” the statement read, referring to Princess Beatrice’s parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, and her grandparents, one of them the Queen.
“The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.
“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf.”

Princess Beatrice later thanked “every one at the hospital for their wonderful care”.
Prince Charles and Camilla congratulated the couple “on the happy news of the birth of their daughter” while Prince William and Kate reposted the news without a message.
A name for the new baby, which is the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild, is yet to be announced.
The baby comes just over three months after Meghan and Harry welcomed their second child, Lilibet Diana.

Thank you to the Midwife team and everyone at the hospital for their wonderful care.
Beatrice’s baby girl is 11th in line to the throne but will not be given a royal title due to a rule that means only grandchildren of a monarch through the male line can claim HRH. The Queen could change this rule but according to experts, it is unlikely.
She is also stepmother to husband Mapelli Mozzi’s young son Wolfie, from a previous relationship with ex-fiancee Dara Huang.
