Prince William reveals ‘hardest year’ in rare candid interview with Eugene Levy
Prince William has made a series of rare revelations during a surprise sit-down pub interview with an award-winning US star.
Prince William has sat down for a rare, candid interview with Hollywood star Eugene Levy.
The Prince of Wales, 43, welcomed the Schitt’s Creek star to Windsor Castle in scenes which will air on Levy’s travel program, The Reluctant Traveler.
The full episode officially drops on Apple TV+ October 3, with viewers given an advance sneak peek of the unusually raw chat, which at one point sees the duo sharing a quiet pint at a local pub.
There, the future King tells Emmy winner Levy that 2024 was the “hardest year” he’s “ever had”, after both his father King Charles III and wife Catherine, Princess of Wales both receive cancer diagnoses.

“You know, life is sent to test us as well, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are,” William says.
Elsewhere, there are some lighthearted moments as the pair take a stroll through the grounds of Windsor Castle with one of William’s black cocker spaniels, as the father-of-three reveals what he does when he’s away from the spotlight at home.
“Sleep!” he laughs. “When you’ve got three small children, sleep in an important part of my life.”
It’s been a busy few weeks on the royal family’s calendar after Charles and Queen Camilla hosted a state visit for US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at Windsor last week.
Afterwards, Charles retreated to Scotland at Balmoral Castle, where he was joined by William on Tuesday for a “not diarised” summit, according to The Telegraph.

Unlike the usual on-the-books-sit-down chats managed to the minute via private secretaries, this particular meeting was “not diarised with senior staff, but set aside to chat as sovereign and heir”.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, meanwhile, is scheduled to travel to Scotland to meet Charles, 76, on Saturday after touching down in London on Thursday.
Albanese began his three-day UK trip with formal talks at 10 Downing Street with his British counterpart Keir Starmer.
The PM said during an address that climate change would be “front and centre” of the government’s agenda during his visit.
Speaking at the Global Progress Action Summit alongside Starmer, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Iceland’s Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir, Mr Albanese hit out at the opposition government for its stance on global warming.
“They (the opposition) are going back into a debate about whether it exists or not, basically whether they will continue to support net zero by 2050,” Mr Albanese told the summit.
“We’re saying climate change is real … get ahead of it and bring people on that journey.”
Mr Albanese’s planned meeting with Charles comes after the Labor government walked back republic talks in January last year, confirming a referendum was no longer an immediate priority.
