Prince Louis steals the show with Buckingham Palace balcony dance

His mum’s public return was the big story of the day at Trooping the Colour – but the young prince still managed to steal the spotlight.

Prince Louis has once again delighted crowds with his appearance at Trooping the Colour, breaking into a little dance as he stood alongside his family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

The six-year-old appeared to let his excitement get the better of him as he wiggled around, before his older sister, Princess Charlotte, 9, eventually seemed to tell him to “stop”.

Prince Louis is known for stealing the show at high-profile royal events with his comical expressions and playful antics.

He looked delighted to once again be part of the ceremonial parade, which officially honours the sovereign’s birthday and is held each June.

Trooping the Colour is always one of the most highly-anticipated events on the royal calendar, but this year was especially significant, with the Princess of Wales making her long-awaited comeback to public life amid her cancer treatment.

Six months on from her last official engagement, Kate confirmed in a personal letter on Friday night (local time) that she would be joining her family for the special occasion.

Dressed in a white Jenny Packham dress, she looked stunning as she smiled and waved to the crowds while taking part in the traditional carriage procession down alongside her three children.

Joined by Prince William, who had travelled separately on horseback, the family later stood alongside King Charles, Queen Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Lady Louise Windsor and the Princess Royal for the traditional royal balcony appearance.
