Prince Harry’s wreath photo exposes true extent of royal rift

Controversy erupted this week between Prince Harry and the rest of the royal family – and these unseen photos reveal how deep the rift goes.

Newly released photos of an unused wreath ordered by Prince Harry for Remembrance Day demonstrate in stark detail the deepening rift between Harry and the other members of the royal family.

A new royal controversy has erupted this week, as Prince Harry’s request to have a wreath laid on his behalf at London’s Remembrance Day event was rejected by Buckingham Palace.

Back at his new home of Los Angeles, Harry and wife Meghan Markle instead visited a military cemetery to lay wreaths and flowers – but then copped a swift backlash for releasing professional photos of their visit.

“My god, they’ve even turned Remembrance Sunday into another self-publicity stunt. Have they no shame?” Good Morning Britain host and vocal Harry and Meghan critic Piers Morgan tweeted in response to the photos.

“Just outrageous – treating Remembrance Sunday like a PR opportunity, & trying to steal headlines from the real royals doing their duty back home.”

But these previously unseen photos reveal Harry’s private efforts to be included at the London Remembrance Day event, which brought brother William, father Charles and grandmother Queen Elizabeth together to publicly pay their respects to fallen war heroes.

The Times reported that Harry personally made the request to Buckingham Palace for a wreath to be laid on his behalf at the Cenotaph war memorial in London.

The Sun reveals the $1800 wreath had already been ordered – and traced it to the Royal British Legion’s headquarters in Aylesford, Kent. Harry’s royal title, H.R.H. Duke of Sussex, is clearly visible on the label:

But Harry’s request was flatly denied by courtiers, on the grounds that he no longer represents the monarchy since he and Meghan’s bombshell decision to leave the royal family earlier this year and start a new life in America.

The Queen was reportedly not made aware of her grandson’s request – and Harry was said to be “deeply saddened” by the rejection.

The rejection brings to a close another royal tradition for the now-ex-royal: Harry had first laid a wreath at the Cenotaph in 2009, having ended his own active service in the military in 2015.
