Prince Harry reportedly lands in UK via private jet, as King Charles hosts glitzy coronation dinner
A private jet has been seen touching down in the UK with Prince Harry reportedly on-board, as Charles hosts world royalty at the Palace.
Royals from across Europe and around the world have arrived at Buckingham Palace for a glitzy state dinner on the eve of King Charles’ coronation, amid reports Prince Harry has landed in the UK.
Charles and Queen Camilla hosted a party of dignitaries and fellow royals for a regal banquet to greet their guests ahead of the big day on Saturday.
Australia’s own Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark and her husband, Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark were among the host of royalty to attend the affair on Friday night, local time.
Catherine, Princess of Wales was seen mingling with guests, including the Danish royals, wearing an appropriately regal blue dress.
Charles even stole a kiss with the Aussie born Danish princess as Frederik looked on.
The dinner is understood to have included people who didn’t receive an invitation to the official service at Westminster Abbey, due to Charles’ desire to slim down the occasion.
It comes amid reports Harry jetted into London on Friday afternoon.
A private jet was photographed touching down in Farnborough – about 65km from central London – from Van Nuys private airport in California, with the Duke of Sussex rumoured to be on-board.
Harry, 38, is attending his father’s coronation without wife Meghan Markle, who has remained in the US with their two children Archie and Lilibet Diana. Tomorrow marks Archie’s fourth birthday.
It’s expected Harry won’t attend the gala dinner, but will be seated in the Abbey for the official service before making the trip back to the US shortly afterwards.
Meanwhile at the palace, here are some of the VIP arrivals:
It comes after Prince William and Kate Middleton joined King Charles for an impromptu walkabout down The Mall on Friday morning, much to the excitement of eager royal watchers – some of whom had been camped out since last weekend.
The crowd has swelled significantly across Friday, with thousands arriving to claim their spot ahead of Saturday’s procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey.
The trio stopped to shake hands and chat with people lining the barricades, thanking them for their support and sharing in their excitement for the weekend’s events.
“How are the kids doing? Are they very excited?” one woman asked Kate as she worked her way through the crowd.
“Excited, a bit nervous, obviously – a big day ahead. But can’t wait, actually,” the Princess of Wales responded, before joking: “Hopefully it’s like swans – relatively calm on the outside, a bit paddle-y on the inside.”
