Prince Harry hilariously baffled by Taylor Swift feud remark in rare podcast interview
“This is serious”: The duke was left completely flummoxed by an unexpected moment during a rare new podcast interview.
IN LONDON
Prince Harry was left absolutely flummoxed when grilled on his stance on one of pop culture’s biggest rumoured feuds.
The Duke of Sussex popped up for a rare interview on comedian Hasan Minhaj’s podcast on Wednesday, with the host warning him that his incoming question was “heavy”.
“What do you think of this Taylor Swift, Charli XCX beef?” Minhaj asked earnestly on his Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know podcast.
A clearly-baffled Harry paused briefly before asking: “The what? … Oh no.”
“This is serious,” Minhaj continued.
(For those, like Harry, who are not in the loop on the Charli v Taylor drama, some context: it’s all been largely fuelled by fan speculation, but the rumoured tension escalated with the former’s song Sympathy is a Knife, believed to be about Swift’s fling with singer Matt Healy. In return, Swift’s recently-released Actually Romantic is seen as a reactive diss track).

Clearly, Harry didn’t have this handy little cheat sheet and appeared hilariously confused – and wary – as Minhaj went on.
“Because was Charli’s diss track even a diss track? I mean, to me, Sympathy is a Knife was about something completely different, but then Taylor comes back, and I think escalates it, with the Actually Romantic thing,” Minhaj pressed him.
“Is this fair? Or did Charli draw blood and Taylor had to respond? … Sometimes I think, where do we go from here, you know?”
Eventually, a speechless Harry began simply, “well …” before bursting into laughter.
Hasan also grilled Harry during a segment called the “Royal Rapid Fire”, in which he asked the duke what his kids, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, think he does for work.
“They know that we help other people, but they don’t know the background...” he told Minhaj.

He also joked that he’d be able to knight the comedian if he had a sword handy, and was teased about a segment in his 2023 memoir, Spare.
“Each year I received from Pa an official clothing allowance, but that was strictly for formal wear. Suits and ties, ceremonial outfits,” Minhaj read aloud from the explosive book.
“For my everyday casual looks I’d go to TK Maxx, the discount store. I was particular fond of their once-a-year sale, when they’d be flush with items from Gap or J.Crew, items that had just gone out of season or were slightly damaged.”
Looking back up at Harry, Minhaj joked: “Bro, I’m sorry you had to go through that”.
A smiling Harry shot back, “You know, it was hard. It was really hard”.
Despite the occasional lighthearted pivots, Harry had joined Minhaj for the lengthy interview in order to raise awareness of the serious dangers of social media on children, an issue he and Meghan have been highlighting in recent years.
“Myself and my wife, we’ve talked about this quite a lot. You know, we’ve had our own fair share of beatings on social media,” Harry told the comedian, who is also a father of two.
“And I guess when we moved to the US, one of the things that we both agreed on was, yes, we could focus on the things that... are very clearly obviously aligned to our passions and causes.”
He added that they “were in search” of the “root cause of so much suffering and pain around the world” and how to “shine a light on that and support the people trying to change” the big tech industry.
Elsewhere during the conversation, Harry also offered a huge clue about his future in the US after being asked if he was planning to become a citizen of the country he’s now lived in for half a decade.
“There are no plans to be at this point,” the prince responded.
