Prince Harry furiously hits back at ‘Brits need to learn a lesson’ claim

The Duke of Sussex has hit back after allegations of his inflammatory comments surfaced, just days before the release of his bombshell Netflix series.

Prince Harry has furiously hit back at claims he told friends “those Brits need to learn a lesson” in the days before his and Meghan Markle’s bombshell tell-all with Oprah Winfrey aired in 2021.

The Sun reports that Harry also warned a friend that the interview – in which he and his wife accused a member of the royal family of racism – would be “quite shocking”.

However, a Sussex spokesman has denied the claims, describing it as “shameful and manipulative” in a statement shared by royal journalist Omid Scobie.

“This is a baseless hit piece masquerading as journalism. This story is riddled with inaccuracies, not least of which is a quote erroneously attributed to Prince Harry,” the spokesman said.

“To accuse a man who spent 10 years serving his country of wanting to teach that same country a lesson is not only an attempted distraction but an unfortunate and predictable tabloid strategy. To put him against his country is shameful and manipulative, especially when Prince Harry has never spoken ill of the British public.”

The war of words comes just days ahead of the launch of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docuseries, in which its understood the couple will double down on racism claims within the royal family and lift the lid on tensions with his family.

The Duke of Sussex also has a memoir, Spare, being released next month.

On Sunday, palace insiders revealed King Charles and Queen Camilla’s reaction to Harry and Meghan’s ongoing public criticism, claiming they are “not worried” but “wearied” about this latest round.

The Mail on Sunday reports that the royals made “magnaminous and very deliberate gestures” to include Harry “as much as possible” in the late Queen’s funeral in September and are frustrated by the situation.

The first emotionally driven teaser for the Netflix docuseries, titled Harry & Meghan, was released on Friday ahead of its rumoured release on December 8 (December 9 in Australia).

It was initially assumed the reportedly six-part series would focus largely on Harry and Meghan’s philanthropic work, but it’s clear from the 59-second clip that there are plenty of new royal bombshells on the way.

The most telltale sign is the black-and-white picture of Prince William and Kate Middleton that popped up in the trailer amid Harry’s voiceover: “No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors.”
