Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announce surprise visit to the UK

It is not yet known if their son Archie, three, and daughter one-year-old Lilibet will join them on their journey across the pond, The Sun reported.

The announcement comes days after Harry filed a second lawsuit against the UK government over a security row.

Harry claims his family are “unsafe” in the UK without self-funded Met Police armed bodyguards.

But the Home Office refused the Duke’s request, saying London’s cops are not “guns for hire”.

Meghan and Harry’s upcoming visit will see the pair first travel to Manchester for the One Young World Summit on September 5.

The gathering brings together young leaders from more than 190 countries.

The Duchess of Sussex is a counsellor for the organisation, alongside Justin Trudeau, Sir Richard Branson and Jamie Oliver, among others.

They will then head to Germany for the Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023 One Year to Go event, before returning to the UK for the WellChild Awards on September 8.

A spokesperson for the couple said: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to visit with several charities close to their hearts in early September.”

Their visit to the UK will be the first time they have been back in the country since the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in early June.

During that trip, Harry and Meghan saw the Queen for just 15 minutes in a “formal” visit.

The Queen was able to meet her namesake Lilibet at the “quick in and out” meeting.
