Prince Andrew clings to one role after massive legal settlement
The Duke of York will be allowed to continue playing “dress up” after being stripped of most of his titles while facing a civil sex abuse case.
There’s nothing like a little “dress up” to help ease historic public humiliation.
Prince Andrew is reportedly being allowed to cling to one of his military titles, the role of Vice Admiral, because he’s been so distraught over the fallout from the sex abuse allegations against him — which resulted in a massive legal settlement and his being booted from the royal family, a source told the Mirror.
“He is down, he is broken. If he wants to dress up once in a while in a naval uniform, then let him,” one source told the outlet. “His reputation is in tatters, his public life is over. He is a walking embarrassment.”

Andrew has vehemently denied the accusations from Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claimed she was forced by paedophile Jeffrey Epstein to have “disgusting” sex with the royal three times, starting in 2001 when she was just 17.
The royal recently reached a reported $22.5 million settlement in the civil case brought against him, but has never admitted any wrongdoing.
“He served in the Royal Navy in the Falklands War and this was bestowed upon him by the Queen,” the source told the Mirror of the vice admiral rank. “It’s effectively the same as an honorary degree.”
It comes after sources close to the royal revealed he still believes he has a shot at returning to public life.
Kerene Barefield, an executive producer for True Royalty TV, said the revelation came during a recent taping of The Royal Beat, a talk show for the streaming service that features exclusive interviews with royal experts and palace insiders.
“The royal experts shared, by speaking to friends of the Duke of York, that he still believes he has a future as a royal,” Barefield told Fox News. “The language that he used in his statement, like the fact he will be helping sex trafficking victims, could be seen as him trying to reposition himself and reinvent himself in the eyes of the public. It’s my understanding that [his daughter] Princess Eugenie also has a charity that helps sex trafficking victims. And it might be that he’s trying to get on board with that.”
