Palace edits huge Prince Harry detail on its official website

The Duke of Sussex’s official page has undergone a small but very significant edit after being called out for a “major blunder” recently.

References to Prince Harry on the royal family’s website have reportedly undergone a major edit after being called out by the British media.

Despite a huge fanfare over Harry and Meghan’s agreement to drop their “HRH” titles after stepping back as senior members of the monarchy in 2020, his official page reportedly still featured the prestigious letters as recently as late last week.

However, after the UK’s Express pointed it out on Friday, palace aides appear to have quietly made a small but significant edit to his page, removing the “HRH”.

According to the publication, it wasn’t the only “major blunder” on the website: Harry was also referred to as the youngest son of the Prince of Wales – a title which his father, Charles, passed down to Prince William upon his ascension to the throne almost a year ago.

During the recent update, William and Kate Middleton also reportedly finally had their titles updated from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also appear to have been shifted toward the bottom of the royal family’s main page, positioned below working members of the monarchy but above the disgraced Prince Andrew.

It comes after the Duke of Sussex’s “HRH” title was removed from a Kensington Palace exhibit in June 2021, after being spotted by keen royal watchers.

The Sun reported at the time that the title had been accidentally left on a placard next to a display of Princess Diana’s wedding dress, which read: “Lent by HRH the Duke of Cambridge and HRH the Duke of Sussex.”

Just days later, the sign had been updated to reflect Harry’s new title.

The website change has likely flown under the radar for Harry, who’s in the midst of a whirlwind trip to Asia.

The duke touched down in Tokyo on Tuesday – dressed casually in a black T-shirt and baseball cap featuring an Archewell logo – alongside his close friend, professional polo player Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Figueras.

It’s understood Meghan stayed home in California with their two young children.

Harry and Figueras are in Japan for this week’s ISPS Sports Values Summit – Special Edition, which celebrates the power of sport, community and philanthropy.

The pair will then head to Singapore to take part in a charity polo match for Sentebale.

Harry’s solo work trip follows news he and Meghan are set to adapt a best-selling book into a Hollywood film in their first major deal since the axing of their Spotify agreement.

Page Six reports that Netflix footed the bill, with the couple’s production company chosen to produce it.

The couple’s debut off-camera project for the streaming service marks a significant shift in direction from their previous personal documentaries – including the documentaries Harry & Meghan and Live to Lead, and the upcoming Heart of Invictus.

The rights to author Carley Fortune’s hit romantic novel, Meet Me At The Lake, reportedly cost around $5.8 million.

It tells a “love story” about a couple who meet in their 30s, and deals with topics including childhood trauma over losing a parent in a car crash, mental health and post-natal depression, taking place near Toronto in Canada – Meghan’s former home.

“The themes of the book gripped the couple and it was chosen for their first adaptation with Netflix,” an insider told the publication.
