The son of Norway’s Crown Princess will be held in jail for a week as police investigate fresh allegations of sexual assault made against him.

Marius Borg Høiby, 27 – who was born from a relationship prior to Mette-Marit’s 2001 marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, the heir apparent to the Norwegian throne – was arrested on Monday for the third time since August.

According to police, he was accused of having a sexual encounter “with someone who is unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act”.

On Wednesday evening, a judge ruled that Marius is now to be detained for as long as a week amid claims that he also assaulted another woman.

A police spokesperson said that each allegation involves a “sexual encounter without intercourse”.

Marius was previously arrested in Oslo on August 4 after allegedly attacking his former girlfriend, and was charged with bodily harm and damage to her apartment.

Norwegian media reported that police discovered a knife stuck into one of the bedroom walls.

Marius was again detained the following month for violating a restraining order.

Following his arrest in September, Norwegian publication Aftenposten reported that Marius’ access to his mother and stepfather’s royal Skaugum residence was revoked.

While he was raised by Mette-Marit and her second husband alongside his step-siblings, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 20, and Prince Sverre Magnus, 18, Marius has no official public role.
