Metropolitan Police dropping investigation into Prince Andrew

The Metropolitan Police have reportedly dropped their investigation into allegations of sex crimes against Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein.

The Daily Mail reports that the force said after conducting two reviews, they would be taking no further action into allegations the top royal and late US financier Epstein groomed or abused multiple young women in the UK.

Andrew still faces a lawsuit in the US amid allegations he forced Virginia Roberts Giufrre to sleep with him when she was 17. The duke vehemently denies the allegations.

The dramatic development comes as senior royals have held a secret summit to decide scandal-plagued Prince Andrew’s fate within the royal family.

According to The Sun, Prince Andrew’s siblings Charles, Anne and Edward held a summit in January where they ruled the Duke of York should never return to public life.

It was reported last night that Prince William sees his uncle as a threat to the monarchy’s future.

One source told The Sunday Times: “There is no way in the world he’s ever coming back, the family will never let it happen.”

And while the UK investigation has been dropped, Prince Andrew still faces a lawsuit in the US – and possible “disaster” if he has to takes the stand, a royal biographer has claimed.

Writer Angela Levin, who has penned an authorised biography of Prince Harry, says Andrew had just three options to explore ahead of the civil case.

“One was to ignore it, pretend it didn‘t happen, he didn’t know anything about it,” she said.

“We‘ve seen that hasn’t worked – it hasn’t gone away. He thought it would all disappear into the night. It hasn’t.

“The second one was to go to America and answer all the questions and nitpick apart the accusations, which is quite dangerous.

“Remember how he was on Newsnight (his disastrous BBC interview) and then think of him on the stand, giving evidence.

“I think it would be a disaster for him.

“The third one is to try to worm out the fact that his accuser doesn‘t have a case.”
