Meghan says ‘they don’t make it easy’ as she opens up about struggles with public life

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has reportedly told US singer Pharrell Williams that life inside Britain’s most famous family is challenging.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has recently been the subject of a media storm over her so-called “diva” demands for privacy — and now she’s insisted that royal life “isn’t easy”.

The Duchess of Sussex, 37, hinted she’s having a difficult time in the spotlight when she joined A-listers at London’s Lion King premiere on the weekend, reports The Sun.

Along with Prince Harry, Meghan was filmed chatting to American pop superstar Pharrell Williams, 46.

Fan account Royal Suitor then shared a video of their conversation on Twitter, where Pharrell praised the couple’s “wonderful union”.

He said: “So happy for your union. Love is amazing. It’s wonderful.

“Don’t ever take that for granted but what it means in today’s climate, I just wanted to tell you it’s so significant for so many of us. Seriously.

“We cheer you guys on.”

Meghan replied: “Thank you, they don’t make it easy.”

Her comment comes weeks after taxpayers forked out £2.4 million ($A4.2 million) for the revamp of the couple’s home Frogmore Cottage — and 14 months after their star-studded £32 million ($A57 million) wedding.

She appears to be referring to her struggle to adapt to life in the spotlight — having faced criticism in the wake of son Archie’s christening and her controversial appearance at Wimbledon last week.

Harry and Meghan chose to keep Archie’s christening a private, family affair and refused to announce who they had chosen as his godparents.

The decision unsurprisingly sparked intense backlash, with a PR expert claiming the couple were acting like “Hollywood A-listers”.

Then just one week later, spectators at Wimbledon were banned from taking photos of the Duchess after being told Meghan was there in a “private capacity” to watch her friend Serena Williams play.

As a result of this, a royal expert has accused the couple of “careering from one disaster to another”.

Speaking on the Pod Save the Queen podcast, royal editor Russell Myers said: “Certainly, Harry would like to be more like Zara and Mike [Tindall], and have that freedom.

“But unfortunately he is related to the heir, and he is going to be the son of the future King.

“The problem is, you can’t have one foot in and one foot out, and this is the issue that’s being debated at the moment.

“It seems like they’re careering from one disaster to another.”

Meghan also received parenting advice from Jay Z and Beyonce at the Lion King premiere who advised them to “take time for themselves”.
