Meghan Markle has been roasted online after her bizarre behaviour at a polo event – with the duchess dubbed “rude” for her comments to another woman.

Footage showing Meghan Markle appearing to tell a woman not to stand next to Prince Harry has blown up on social media overnight.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the Royal Salute Polo Challenge held at the Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington on Sunday, where Meghan handed her husband the trophy after his team was victorious at the event.

But an awkward moment has since become the talking point, with video showing an unidentified woman going to stand next to Harry for a photo opportunity, before Meghan seemingly gestures her to move elsewhere.

“So do you want to come over here?” Meghan can be heard asking. “Do you want to go over here?”

The video, which has lit up TikTok and Instagram, has prompted a wave of commentary from social media users, who dubbed the duchess “rude”.

“Oh, so cringe,” one person wrote, while another chimed in, “She seems insecure regarding her husband. That’s why she keeps clinging on him and any woman who stands beside him is told to stand beside her.”

A third wrote, “Craving for attention and the camera.”

“Always wanting to steal the spotlight,” a fourth added.

“Wow, that’s incredible. Does she have no idea how she comes across to everyone else,” another said.

Others were quick to defend Meghan, saying “the woman can’t breathe without someone criticising her.”

“Meghan is beautiful and Harry looks happy. Now everyone just go and mind their own business,” one wrote.

“I think Meghan was correct on this occasion. I would have done the same,” another said.

“That lady was blocking Harry. Why would Meghan move away from her own husband?” a third questioned.

Despite the exchange, Meghan and Harry seemed in good spirits at the event, as they were photographed sharing a kiss onstage and walking together hand-in-hand.

The polo game, which supported Harry’s Sentebale charity, came amid an exciting announcement from the couple, who revealed they were working on two new series’ for Netflix as part of their multimillion-dollar deal with the streaming company, which they signed in 2020.

Meghan is producing and starring in a lifestyle-focused show that will celebrate “the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship”, while the second series will be about polo.

It seems as though Meghan is returning to her lifestyle roots after being forced to retire her blog The Tig once she became engaged to Harry in 2017.

In March, the mother-of-two announced the launch of her own brand, American Riviera Orchard, which will sell food, kitchen products and cookbooks, as well as cosmetics including makeup and skincare.
