Meghan Markle signs with good friend Serena Williams’ talent agency WME
Meghan Markle has signed on with a powerhouse talent agency as she zeros in on her creative endeavours away from the royal family.
Meghan Markle has reportedly signed with powerhouse talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME) in the US.
According toVariety, numerous talent agencies have tried to lure the Duchess of Sussex since she and husband Prince Harry took a step back from royal life in 2020 and moved to California.
The publication reports that various departments within WME including “film and television production, brand partnerships and overall business-building” will also head up Meghan’s business and creative ventures.
The agency will also represent her and the Duke of Sussex’s foundation, Archewell, and her Spotify podcast, Archetypes. Although it’s believed acting will not be an area of focus for Meghan or WME.
Specifically, Meghan will be represented by Ari Emanuel, who is best known for being the inspiration behind Jeremy Piven’s Entourage character, Ari Gold.
Emanuel will work alongside agents Brad Slater and Jill Smoller – the former has been instrumental in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s career and the latter is the longtime agent of Meghan’s good friend, tennis star Serena Williams.
The former actress has long wanted to focus on her creative ventures. In an interview with Variety last year, she voiced her desires to promote Archewell’s original content.
“So much of how my husband and I see things is through our love story. I think that’s what people around the world connected to, especially with our wedding. People love. I’m not excluded in that sentiment,” Meghan said.
“For scripted, we want to think about how we can evolve from that same space and do something fun. It doesn’t always have to be so serious. Like a good rom-com. Don’t we miss them? I miss them so much.”
The signing comes seven months after the Duchess split from her former agency, Sunshine Sachs, who worked with her when she starred on the TV show, Suits.
The announcement is sure to raise eyebrows, given King Charles’ coronation is just days away. It has been confirmed only Harry will travel to London for his father’s coronation at Westminster Abbey on May 6, however, Meghan will stay in California for their son, Prince Archie’s 4th birthday.
