Meghan Markle, Prince Harry spotted at Ellen DeGeneres’ star-studded vow renewal
For the first time since before their Netflix doco dropped, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been spotted together at a star-studded party.
Meghan Markle has emerged for the first time since her Netflix documentary was released, appearing alongside Prince Harry at a star-studded event.
The Duchess of Sussex, 41, in her first real-time appearance since the bombshell doco and Harry’s groundbreaking memoir Spare, could be seen in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment at Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s vow renewal this week.
The former royals were spotted in the crowd witnessing the surprise renewal, which DeGeneres uploaded on social media today.
De Rossi surprised her wife of 14 years, DeGeneres, by walking into their living room in her 2008 wedding dress, in front of a bevy of star-studded guests, including Kris Jenner, at their new Montecito home.
In a five-minute video, Harry could be seen standing separately from Meghan, the latter of which was seen cheering as the couple shared a kiss.
A source told Page Six the Sussexes had a “wonderful time” at the event, which fell on de Rossi’s 50th birthday.
“They indeed attended and had a wonderful time celebrating Portia’s birthday and the couple’s vow renewal,” an insider told the publication.
Meghan and Harry no doubt spend private time with DeGeneres and de Rossi, all of which are residents of the affluent Montecito area in California.
Meghan’s surprise friendship with DeGeneres was revealed when the former Suits actress sat down on her cancelled talk show in November 2021.
The Duchess revealed years ago, before she even met Prince Harry, DeGeneres had encouraged her to adopt a dog.
“You just looked at me and said, ‘Are you getting that dog? … You have to take it home,’” Meghan told the audience, saying how the pair ran into one another at an animal shelter.
“And I said, ‘Well if Ellen says I have to take it home, I’m getting this dog.’”
Meanwhile, this marks the first time Meghan has been seen in public since December 6, where the Sussexes attended a glitzy gala in New York just hours before the release of their six-part Netflix documentary.
While in the lead up, and aftermath, of his headline-making memoir Spare, released January 10, Meghan has kept an extremely low profile.
It comes after several outlets reported Meghan aired concerns to Harry over his book, and even suggested to her husband it perhaps wasn’t the right move.
“Sources suggest that media-savvy Meghan was slightly more circumspect about the concept of a memoir and may have raised gentle concerns about whether it was the right move,” UK’s Telegraph reported last month.
“No stranger to taking on her enemies, she is understood to have been more wary than the Duke about this particular project.
“That said, once Harry had made up his mind … the Duchess is said to have offered her full support and is immensely proud of his achievements.”
