Meghan Markle makes surprise appearance on The Ellen Show
Meghan Markle has sat down for an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, in her first TV appearance since her explosive Oprah tell-all.
Meghan Markle has sat down with Ellen DeGeneres for her first TV interview since the explosive Oprah Winfrey tell-all earlier this year.
The Duchess of Sussex featured in a teaser shared by DeGeneres on Wednesday, which was captioned: “A lot has changed since the last time Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, was on the Warner Brothers lot. Don’t miss the rest of our interview tomorrow.”
In the clip, Meghan opened up about her days of auditioning – well before she began dating Prince Harry and quit acting.
“You said the last talk show you did was like, I don’t know, another decade ago, but you used to come to this lot to audition all the time,” DeGeneres prompted.
“Oh my gosh, completely! I would park at gate three and then I would scoot on over, and what was so nice is the security guards would always say, ‘Break a leg, we hope you get it!’” she said.
“So to drive in today was very different.”
Meghan then described the beaten-up old car she used to drive to auditions, saying “it had a life of its own.”
“I had this very, very old Ford Explorer Sport, and at a certain point the key stopped working on the driver’s side, so you couldn’t get yourself in through the door,” she explained.
“So after auditions, I would park at the back of the parking lot and I would open the trunk and climb in and then pull it shut behind me and crawl over all my seats to get out. That’s how I would come to and fro.”

It’s her first interview since giving birth to her second child, daughter Lilibet, in June.
The former Suits star and husband Prince Harry moved to California with their son Archie, 2, last year after sensationally stepping down from their frontline royal roles.
Meghan’s appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show – which will air on Friday, Australian time – is part of the long-running series’ 19th and final season.
In May, DeGeneres announced she was ending her talk show amid persistent claims of bullying and a “toxic” set.
The once-popular talk show queen – who has experienced a dramatic fall from grace amid persistent claims of bullying on her “toxic” set – actually befriended Meghan years ago, after they met at an LA dog shelter and she encouraged the up-and-coming actress to adopt her first dog, Bogart.
In 2019, DeGeneres revealed on her show that she and wife Portia de Rossi had visited Prince Harry and Meghan at their then-home, Frogmore Cottage, in the UK and met their new son, Archie.
She told the audience: “I see them get attacked and it’s not fair. They are two of the most down-to-earth, compassionate people, and they’re doing so much good for the world.”
