After a busy year including leaving the royal family, a $130 million Netflix deal and countless charitable endeavours, Meghan Markle has extended her portfolio to investing.

The Duchess of Sussex, 39, has personally invested in a Californian female-founded business which makes superfood lattes.

Small start-up business Clevr Blends produce instant coffee sachets including chai, matcha, coffee and turmeric lattes, with a focus on wellness.

And the first high-profile celebrity to spruik the brand was none other than Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry’s neighbour, billionaire Oprah Winfrey, who uploaded a video on Instagram of herself making the drink.

“On the first day of Christmas my neighbor (sic) ‘M’ sent to me … A basket of deliciousness!” she wrote, adding: “Yes that M”, alongside a crown emoji.

She added that the $37-a-bag beverage is her “new drink of choice for the morning and night,” writing, “Wish I had @clevrblends sooner cause I would’ve added it to my Favourite Things list.”

The company is ran by co-founder Hannah Mendoza, who Meghan endorsed in a statement obtained by Fox News.

“This investment is in support of a passionate female entrepreneur who prioritises building community alongside her business,” Meghan wrote in a statement.

“I’m proud to invest in Hannah’s commitment to sourcing ethical ingredients and creating a product that I personally love and has a holistic approach to wellness. I believe in her and I believe in her company.”

The business initially was run as a pop-up coffee bar in Santa Barbara, with the products now sold online.

The company also donates a percentage of its revenue to organisations fighting for food justice in the US.

“Entrepreneurs need funding, but they also need advisers who care deeply about what they are building. I’m grateful to have found both in the Duchess of Sussex,” Mendoza told Fox News. “Her passion for what we’re creating is palpable, and I couldn’t imagine a more aligned partnership. We’re excited for the road ahead.”

It comes after Meghan made a surprise appearance on CNN’s annual Heroes TV special on Sunday, honouring inspiring people who have helped out this year during the pandemic.
