Meghan Markle blames Australia for her royal downfall

Meghan and Harry have pinpointed the moment things turned for her, and it was during their Australian tour.

Meghan blames Australia for her downfall

The final three episodes of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix special have dropped, and with them, several royal bombshells.

In episode four, the couple pinpointed the moment things turned for her in the royal family.

“I think Australia was a real turning point,” a friend said. “Because they were so popular, so popular with the public.

“And the palace, were incredibly threatened by that.”

Shortly afterwards, Harry recalled a night out with the entire royal family in attendance at Buckingham Palace, including the Queen.

But the next day, it was Meghan on the front page of the newspapers, not the monarch or Kate.

“That’s when the hammer dropped,” Harry said.

“I went ‘Oh my God!’” Meghan recalled, of seeing the front page.

“My mum felt the same way,” Harry said. “It was almost like from the wedding and everything I saw that they were building her up.

“And then there was a shift and they started to tear her down. I’m sorry. At the time, and we laughed about because it’s so ridiculous.

“But an attack can be preposterous, but it’s still an attack and that drip feed of constant attack on someone who is an individual or real person has an impact.”

In the opening seconds of episode four, she recounts how the family reacted to her joining it, a black, American actress, who she says never fit in.

“There was this moment were our private secretary said me, [this family] it’s like a fish swimming perfectly,” Meghan said.

“Then there’s this foreign organism. And they were like ‘What is that? What is it doing here? it doesn’t look like us, it doesn’t move like us, get it off of us’.

“And she just explained that you know, they’ll soon see that it’s stronger, faster, even better with this organism as part of it. It will be hard at the beginning for them to adjust to this new thing. But then it’ll be amazing.

“And I was really hopeful that that was true.”

Meghan also spoke about her first official outing with the Queen, but was delierately glowing about the recently-deceased monarch.

“My first official engagement with Her Majesty was very early on after we got married,” she said.

“We took the royal train together And we had breakfast that morning and I had a really great time with her.

“I treated her as my husband’s grandma. When we got into the car in between engagements, She had a blanket and she pulled it over my knees and we’re sitting there in the car with this blanket my thought, I recognise and respect and see that you are the queen. But in this moment, I’m so grateful that there’s a grandmother figure because that feels like family.

“It was a really good day.”

The first three episodes of Harry & Meghan’s TV documentary dropped on Netflix last week on December 8. The first three hours of footage included several royal bombshells that have been picked over by fans and commentators alike.

Here’s what has been uncovered so far:

Meghan and Harry met on Instagram

In episode one, Meghan and Harry revealed details of how they met – slightly contradicting what the duke has said previously.

In 2017, Harry told the BBC: “It was definitely a set-up — it was a blind date. It was a blind date for sure.”

But in episode one released today, Harry said: “We met on Instagram.

“I was scrolling through my feed and someone who was a friend had this video of the two of them and I thought ‘Who is that?’”

The friend later reached out to Meghan to see if she was interested in meeting the royal, and after inspecting the “beautiful photography and environmental shots” on his Instagram feed, she agreed to a date.

Harry’s subtle dig at Kate

In episode one, Harry appeared to reference his sister-in-law, the Princess of Wales, while discussing how his relationship with Meghan differs from what the Royal Family have come to expect.

He said: “I think for so many people in the family, especially men, there can be a temptation or an urge to marry someone who would fit the mould as opposed to somebody who you are perhaps are destined to be with.”

Adorable snaps of Archie and Lilibet

Rare photos of Harry and Meghan’s children and the family’s home life have been also revealed in the Netflix show.

One adorable image show Prince Harry lovingly kissing baby daughter Lilibet on the nose and the newborn seems to sleep peacefully.

More sweet snaps show the baby prince in a high chair with a tiny party hat as Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Meghan’s mum Doria smile broadly.

The show also released never-seen-before footage of youngster cradled in his mother’s arms in a touching moment.

Harry’s warning to Meghan about paparazzi

In the second episode of the highly-anticipated series, Meghan explained that during the early days of their relationship, while she was still based in Toronto and filming Suits, she’d encountered a pack of “9 or 10” paparazzi as she left a florist.

“They were all sort of blocking the cars, going, ‘Hey, how you doing, Meghan?’, and I said ‘Oh, thanks, stay warm guys,’” the Duchess of Sussex recalled.

The next day, she told the filmmakers, she’d gotten a very strict instruction from her new boyfriend.

“I remember (Harry) saying the next day, ‘You can’t talk to them’,” Meghan said.

“And I was like, ‘I’m just trying to be pleasant, I don’t know what to do, I’ve never dealt with this before’, and he said, ‘Yes, but the UK media is saying you love it. You’re smiling. You love it.”

‘Jarring’: First meeting with William and Kate

Also in episode two, Meghan unveiled details of her “surprising” first meeting with Kate.

She said: “Even when Will and Kate came over and I met her for the first time.

“I was in ripped jeans and I was barefoot.

“I’m a hugger I’ve always been a hugger. I didn’t know that could be jarring for a lot of Brits.”

“I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality out on the outside, carried through on on the inside.

“That there is a forward facing way of being then you close the door and you go phew, great we can relax now.

“But that formality continues on both sides and that was surprising to me.”

2017 engagement interview was ‘rehearsed’

Meghan scoffed at the memory of her and Harry’s 2017 BBC royal engagement interview in episode three of the couple’s Netflix docu-series.

The episode began with a flashback to Meghan and Harry’s memorable first TV appearance, which Meghan called an “orchestrated reality show,” revealing that from their adorable photo shoot to sit down chat, everything about the announcement was “rehearsed.”

From the get-go, Meghan says, they “weren’t allowed” to tell their true story when faced with questions about their relationship.

Multiple reports suggest Harry and Meghan have been at odds with Netflix bosses in attempts to delay the show, following a chaotic period for the royal family, including the Queen’s death in September.

The couple are understood to have wanted to push the controversial TV series back to 2023 amid backlash over the new series of The Crown, which is chronicling the breakdown of Charles and Diana’s marriage.
